Harry has to stay in hotels in order to keep up his fight with the home office....IF he had stayed at one of the royal residences then the 'fight' would have no legs....he would automatically be 'protected'....but Megsy won't stay with The Family so he has to continue to pursue the 'I need protection for my family' spiel.

Harry knows if he stays at BP he will have 24/7 protection but it will also mean he won’t be able to record, photograph or anything else underhand or sneaky as he will be watched on his every move & rightly so. Harry has shown how untrustworthy he is & has shown just how easily & readily he will lie, so I’d want him watched like a hawk too. Is it just me or is it common sense? If he stays at the palace the press will see him leaving the palace therefore, people will know exactly where he is and will be able to follow him. When he stays at the hotel, the same hotel that no one has figured out where he’s been staying he can come and go as he pleases because no one knows he’s there. He can slip in and out without being noticed. The palace not only constantly have pressed surrounding the ground. There are also tourists who would possibly see him leaving the palace because they’re watching to possibly see Royal.

If the late Queen didn't repossess any of Prince Charles's residences when he criticised his parents in Jonathan Dimbleby's 1994 authorised biography Charles: The Private Man, the Public Role, why did King Charles decide to repossess the home that Prince Harry and Meghan had received as a gift from the late queen? As a parent, this could be seen as a failing on King Charles's part, especially considering it was the last gift his son received from his grandmother-something that Prince Harry and Meghan would cherish forever. Thus Prince Harry security issue would have been solved.
