Well, if you think about it, all dragons are really just fragments of the Time God, with Alduin being a particularly large fragment and possibly the first to fragment. This is supported by the fact that when dragons defeat each other they absorb their opponent's soul, which essentially them just absorbing another part of themselves, which is also why they have to be careful due to the disposition of the opponent potentially affecting them. This is also an interesting development when you think about the fact that it means that all Dragonborn are then simply fragments of the Time God.
@brettbishop14178 жыл бұрын
Maybe when Alduin said he was the first born of Akatosh he meant it in a figurative sense, as in he was the next progression in the line of the time god.

I believe what vivect said about lorkahn, lorkahn did what he did not because he was evil,but because he knew they were not actually gods (as the dweamer were saying all along) but that they could ascend to true godhood if only they stripped their arrogance and power,looked that selfs objectively, then achieved chim, losing all flaws and ascending past primordial God status

this is what i believe is the truth in elder scrolls \
@7dayspking7 жыл бұрын
They were gods, they were immortal and divine before Mundus was created, they were above the human concept of the Universe. Their divinity was lost to stabilize the Universe and those that remained within it slowly withered and died. Lorkhan was of course above them (one of the very first spirits.) It's actually Auriel (the enemy of Lorkhan.) who showed the rest of the spirits the path to divinity.
@TideofQeora7 жыл бұрын
i read i cant remember where but i think it was the imperial library, anyway i read that only the 2 original beings i.e. Anu and Padomay are truly gods and thus can only truly create. thats why the et'ada had to give up/tricked out of there divinity. thats why the Deadra are connected to there plains (or are there plains)
@7dayspking7 жыл бұрын
+Calvin The spirits were never going to ascend to Anu godhood and lorkhan neither did nor ever showed a path to such ascension, however each of these beings had the potential to shift and change the world. I also think it's more accurate to say that their power wasn't drained so much as to make the world but as they remained on it....their divinity continued to dwindle well after the creation of the world, perhaps it's what keeps the world stable and alive (although different spirits have shown the ability to create life from a mere thought or an aspect of themselves, similar to Anu.) It's the nature of the physical plane itself that seems to strip them of divinity. The Daedra I think are free to travel as they please...just not able to reside on Nirn or Mundus without invitation.

Not really lorkhan remade. he's a new deity. But speaking of Ysmir, Ysmir is the name of the aspect of Lorkhan that appears to face Alduin, or alternatively to protect mankind. Which would make the PC in skyrim (who is named Ysmir officially by the greybeards) an aspect of the creator himself.

The Chimer were transformed into the Dunmer when the Tribunal broke the oath sworn before Azura that they wouldn't use the Heart of Lorkhan. Azura transformed them as punishment - save for Almalexia, who used her borrowed god power to retain her golden Chimer appearance, and Vivec, who adopted the two-sided appearance we know from TES3 and ESO. The Snow Elves, or Falmer, were the original inhabitants of Skyrim before the Atmorans arrived. They had skirmishes with the Atmorans at first, and then a brief period of uneasy truce. The Snow Elves broke that peace by raiding the Atmoran settlement of Saarthal in the middle of the night, killing nearly everyone. It was thence known as the "Night of Tears." Ysgramor and his remaining followers returned to Atmora for reinforcements (see Songs of the Return series in-game) and came back with the original Companions. They systematically hunted and slaughtered the Snow Elves in retaliation, up to and including their greatest general, known as the Snow Prince (see Fall of the Snow Prince in-game), which broke the spirits of the Snow Elves, and led them to go into hiding. A sizeable number of them sought refuge underground, with their Dwemer cousins. The Dwemer pretended to have mercy, but in reality, fed them a diet consisting largely of toxic fungus, which rendered them blind and subservient. Over time, the once beautiful Snow Elves devolved into the cruel, twisted Falmer you see in caves and in Blackreach in game.

Remember, the "hero-god" of mankind basically forced the Altmer into the Empire at gunpoint. Except instead of gunpoint, he used Numidium, a giant brass robot that can wipe you from existence. Hardly worth worshiping. On the other hand, Phynaster taught the Elves to live longer, so he's cool. There's also the fact that Talos is essentially Lorkhan reborn, who's basically the Elven version of the devil, but that's a different story.

1:58 Nine Divines, not eight. By intention or error, you neglected to mention Talos here. Talos was never called into question until Skyrim, and many Nords still believe him to be a Divine, not to mention the many other parts of Tamriel whose beliefs on this are unknown (Summerset Isles' overall beliefs are pretty obvious, but not, say, Argonia's). Also, I think the meaning of "son of Akatosh" is that Alduin, representing the end of time, is in a way a descendant of current time. That is to say, time isn't over until time is over, and Alduin can't eat the world until time is over, so he comes when the reign of Akatosh concludes. If that makes sense, which it probably doesn't.
@roshankredemption25108 жыл бұрын
Talos wasn't involved in creation; he didn't ascend until later. He is most definitely a divine, but is considered by many sources to not be an Aedra, and that is why I said "Eight Divines" as opposed to 9. I should have said 9 divines minus Talos, sorry if I was unclear!

The final battle the Chimer had with the Dwemer was at the Battle of Red Mountain, where the Dwemer wanted to harness the power of the Heart of Lorkhan and attempt to achieve divinity. As the Chimer and Dwemer fought along the side of the mountain, suddenly all the Dwemer disappeared and were never heard from again. After the battle, Sotha Sil decided to try and use the Dwemer tools to see if godhood could actually be achieved through the heart. He eventually found out it could be done, and convinced Vivec and Almalexia to become gods with him. As the three used the tools on the heart, they betrayed Azura, breaking their pledge to her and used the heart to become the Tribunal. Azura, in her fury over this, turned the whole Chimer race's skin dark as ash and their eyes red. On this day, almost all Chimer became the Dunmer, or the "Cursed Ones." - Elder Scrolls Wiki(elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Chimer), under Red Mountain.

Alduin is a fragment of the time god but in his referring to himself as the Son of Akatosh he may be stating that Akatosh's role as the forward momentum of time brought forth the end aka Alduin himself. He is saying that the end of time is only born from the progression of time, therefore he is a fragment of the time god, but he is born from Akatosh, the fragment representing th progression of time.

Some "Errors" i noted: Talos became a deity through a different process similar to something that Vivec. Shor is an aspect of Lorkan in the Nordic pantheon, in Skyrim you see his throne room and the spirits of the dead comment that he left as to protect the Dragonborn from seeing him, which could result in the Dragonborn's death. Shor is said to be the "God of the Dead" and will battle Auiel at the end of time. So its unlikely that Talos took the place of Lorkan, they seem to be entirely separate entities. The Daedra didnt "leave" before the creation of Nirn, they just didnt help create it. Its rumored that they dont have the power of creation. The Daedra are different from the Aedra in that the Aedra are Children of Anu and Padomay while the Daedra are formed from Padomay's blood. There is some myth relating that Azura has the power of creation, though its generally understood that the Deadra lack the power to create, only change and mimic creation. A character in ESO explains this in one of the public dungeons in Morrowind. The Aedra had something of a civil war after creation of Nirn, in which Akatosh battled Lorkan. Trinimac took out Lorkan's heart and presented it to Akatosh. Akatosh is said to be connected the soul of Anu, and Lorkan is said to be part of the soul of Padomay- which would make Lorkan a daedra. One of the writers of the series mentioned that Anu, Akatosh, The All-Maker, and Nirn are all the same entity.
@Super50ldier2 жыл бұрын
No, Lorkhan is an Aedra because Aedra are made from both Anu's and Padomay's blood mixed while Daedra are made from Padomay's blood only. Or Aedra are the original spirits that created Mundus while the Daedra are the original spirits that didn't take part in creating Mundus.
@Just_Another_Gravemind3 жыл бұрын
If aedra is "our ancestors" and daedra is "not our ancestors" then how does Trinamac become a daedra? How can a being that "our ancestor" just not be, is it because he was reborn as Malacath? I'm a lore nerd but this bit has just never clicked for me if someone has a better explanation please share. (Even farther than this how could Miridia just become a daedra? I don't see these as titles you can just lose, they describe beings who worked to make the world so how can aedra become daedra in this way, being cast out of the aedra in her case?)

man I just want es6 to come and have a lot of these questions of lore answered

I wonder if Bethesda'll ever start including Aedra in future Elder Scrolls. We've had Daedra since the beginning of the franchise, it would be cool if some Aedras (or just one) would start poking around Mundus and the player character could interact with them. Also, imagine, Aedric armour and weapons!
@mattlink12358 жыл бұрын
That is very unlikely due to the fact that the aedra are basically dead.
@adrianmcbride16668 жыл бұрын
+Mattlink 123 Didn't Mara interact with the Nerevarine in morrowind? Also I believe it is possible to wear Talos' armour in Oblivion. More than that and the quests championing some aedra in skyrim, not very likely.

Never played Oblivion?...basically
@adrianmcbride16668 жыл бұрын
+Spacefrisian Are you talking about the avatar of Akatosh or Talos' armour?
@voiddragon37588 жыл бұрын
Spell Bound you get Pelinal whitestrake's armor and weapons in Knights of the Nine Oblivion DLC and they were made by the Divines. Plus the Staff of Magnus and Auri-el's bow and shield in Skyrim. Though yah it would be awesome if we got to speak to the Aedra in the next elder scrolls game

I was surprised that didn't go back even further in the origins of the Et'Ada with their creation at the hands of Anu and Padomay. Cool video though.
@roshankredemption25108 жыл бұрын
I wish I had the time to; making these videos too long is a bad idea in my experience. I felt that wasn't directly related to the Aedra as much as the other stuff, but I can see where you're coming from, so thanks for the advice! :)
@joshuatolkamp40798 жыл бұрын
If you are interested I have a potential script for you. I don't make videos myself so if you want it, it's yours. It does get deep into the lore and kinda turns the events of Knights of the Nine on its head a little (with regards to Anumaril).
@zedorda13374 жыл бұрын
Here is a better analogy: Alduin is the "bookend" to the Auri-el "bookend" of time. Being that you need each to even have a timeline in some arguments. A beginning needs an end to start the next beginning.
@Panseidon8 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, I would totally play an Elder Scrolls Game that you play as one of the Aedra during and after the creation of Nirn.

I think Alduin is both a fragment and 1st born of Akatosh. If Akatosh is Linear Time and Alduin the End of time then that means Akatosh must always come before Alduin

Just a note : when you said that all the dwemer disappeared that was not true, there was one dwemer in oblivion at the time of the disappearance and he can be found in morrowind

I think there is a little mistake. The Daedra are actually those et Ada, who did decide NOT to create the world in general. Those who left before mundus was complete are the Magna Ge, who fled with Magnus.
@MLGPROS9998 жыл бұрын
does the daedric writing say aedra on top of the photos?
@damianfalcone27938 жыл бұрын
There is theory that the Dwemers plan didn't go terribly wrong, it is possible they vanished as a way of ascending to god hood which was their goal
@nopelganger8 жыл бұрын
Another posible theory is that they were transporter forward in time like Alduin did. They had an Elder Scroll.
@damianfalcone27938 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I didn't know that
@Starcrafter238 жыл бұрын
+Star Killah Never heard that one, and I don't think its likely. Hearth of Lorkhan would most likely either gave them konwledge that could make them zero sum (realize that its all a dream and get wiped from existence) or make them one with Numidium
@isaiahstephens36308 жыл бұрын
They didnt zero sum. If they zero summed they would have been completely erased from history and existence but evidence of their civilization clearly remains.

Roshank Redemption Can you make a video on Pelinal Whitestrake? It would make an interesting video since he's an insane Time traveling robot and a Shezzarrine (avatar of Lorkhan). or better yet do a video on the various shezzarrine's. Pelinal is just one of the more Influential ones. Plus you Mantle Pelinal in Oblivion Knights of the Nine DLC.

Their are various references to him being a time traveling robot in The Song of Pelinal in game books and was confirmed by Michael Kirkbride

Here is a theory. If Meridia had stuck around and become part of Nirn then necromancy would have been impossible.
@trevorworley91918 жыл бұрын
SpazzyMcGee1337 no. Simply no, there isn't a god for/against illusion magic but it's still there. All magic comes from aetherius and mortals control what is done with the magic that slips through aedra nor daedra can control how mortals use it. They can influence mortals but still no control

Boethia devoured Trinimac, then shat him out as Malacath. That's what a book in Skyrim says about the origins of Malacath.
@demigodgamer85177 жыл бұрын
On the subject of Alduin, is it possible by son he was referring to the fact that Akatosh came before him in chronological domain? Like how Akatosh came after Aur-iel, Alduin came after him.
