I've over 3k hours in Skyrim and I gotta say: the way you talk about the game and what it's like to play it, it seems they were extremely successful in capturing the essence of the original game 😅 Thanks for the video! I gotta disagree with combat complaints, this might be my favorite dice combat system ever. It's a little push your luck, and. I love that you can see what the enemy will do first, so you can plan which move to use. Sure it can add downtime to everyone else. Only in the beginning though. You get so frickin powerful in such a short period of time in this game, so you can kill so many things in one roll. If you have a companion, that makes it go really fast as well. Now, just like the game, if you invest heavily in stealth you can kill things before there is even combat. Great, review though. Happy this game is getting some love. Kinda expected more buzz because it's like the best video game ever. 😉

I’m happy you like the conbat system :) May I ask, what was your strategy for learning the combat sequence? I’ve found it to be a bit fiddly, but I really want to like it. Did you find a helpful cheat sheet?

Was really excited for this review! As always you did an excellent job at describing the different aspects in an unbiased manner. Looks like a really fun game. I particularly like that you found it a good game to get other 'less gamery' people into this genre. Thanks for all you do!

Same thing I said about the combat and dungeons. If they would have done miniature combat and had maps like gloomhaven for the dungeons... 9 or 10/10.

Yeah I skipped this basically because of the concerns you said here as negatives, its good to know I didn't miss out too much :)

It does catch the flavor of Skyrim well. I agree that all the included small components were poor, so I substituted my own pieces for most of the fiddly bits, way better. I played with two people and we coop ran locations and quests about 60% of the time, which made the locations go faster and kept us both involved with less down time. Adding a couple followers also added some hilarity and unpredictability to some encounters. I ended up completing the first campaign, plan to play again. The miniature expansion is completely optional. It does replace the small and hard to read NPC tokens on the map board during play though, so that does make it easier to see at a glance what is where on the board. There is a lot of small text in this game.

I really enjoyed this review! The topics you discuss and the way you go about really help me feel wether I'd enjoy the game or not. I'm also amazed that all the things you experienced (like not really caring about the main quest and hoarding) are exactly the things Skyrim players experience! I guess they did did a good job in that aspect.

Yes, we had issues with the rulebook as well. For example, I was looking if magic items take up a hand slot and after 30min. search found that the only place it's mentioned is at the end cover next to iconography. Not the best rulebook

I know so many board games players which are also video games players, but the reason that I'm not (I don't know about those great reviewers) - Is because the meaning of spending time with video games is spending less time with board games... And I like this hobby too much to dedicate my precious time for another. Yet, with that being said, video games seem like an amazing, even mind blowing medium of entertainment. I guess that amongst the time consuming reason and the boardgaming reason - I also have my concerns of getting addicted to it. Happy gaming.
