If you click on an object on the map you can usually rotate around the object making it much easier to navigate the map by using random objects as pivot points.

Thanks for this (and your other) tutorial ! I have watched the complete official tutorials(x2), and several others, but, what i like about you is that you actually show where your mouse is, and what you are clicking. the others just "say" what they are doing, but you are showing it! Still relevant today! This little fix of checking the navmesh is still nowhere to be found in the creation kit tutorial from Bethesda. Fixed my problem and stopped me from rage quitting. Mind you, the new computer part also helped me not do to a little bash and dash. Thanks, and I'll sub, and keep watching.

@MrLemon6545 In your "cell view" window, right click on your cell and a new window pops up. On the top of that window, click the tab that says Interior data or Interior info. The top line in that box lets you rename your cell from "storage marker unit" to something new.

You're probably getting tired of me telling you things (or not!) but a good way to get a much calmer and more predictable rotation while in the world map is to select an object close to an area you want to work and hitting Shift+F. This will focus the camera on that object. You can then zoom out, pan around and if you attempt to rotate the view, it will be much more forgiving.

For those having rotation problems, know that the camera rotates around the currently selected object. Wisely select the object you want to act as the center, rotate, enjoy and thumbs up for all to see ;)

i know this is old but the creation kit didn't change and this being the best one i could find you should remake it for SE with it being more in depth and with the new things in the game so then people that started on modding when SE came out (myself included) would have a more up to date tutorials to follow. also i love these I've been taking drafting, architecture and landscaping classes to help with creating world spaces.

If you want to rotate more easily in Tamriel you simply have to select something to rotate around it. normally things in tamriel are really huge so you might want to select a tree or a bush.

Just wanted to say, when you mention to rotate gently so you don't lose yourself in the kit...well the trick is to select something and the rotation is going to be around that object...so when you wanted to rotate around your dungeon entrance you just select the entrance...thought you could mention that in future videos...subscribed...going to continue watching...not going to say anything else :)

just a hint about the finicky rotating of the camera, that's because without anything selected the rotation is originated at the origin of the cell. Select an object and that will set the rotation around that object, so the camera doesn't go flying everywhere.

Just so that people know, when in the world, selecting a placed object before using the shift key to turn the view, makes turning the view 1000 times easier.

You need to use a different type of door. There are two kinds, load doors, and interior doors which you can walk up to and activate to open or close. Load doors only work if they are hooked up to another door.

Double check that you aren't looking at STATIC doors. I had the same question, but after looking at the following tree structure, I managed to find them: WorldObjects > Door > Dungeons > Nordic > Doors. I selected NorDoorSmLoad01. *** For load screens, be sure to select a door with LOAD in the name! Load doors only partially open so you cannot see the geometry behind it. Otherwise the door will fully open as if it were a regular, non-teleporting door, and look bad.

If you click on an object in overworld THEN rotate it rotates around that object so its easier to control!

Look at the «items» in your dungeon from the cell view, there should be a dragon spawn marker or something like it, delete it!

First I wanted to say thanks for doing these, they are easy to understand and great for beginners and more experienced modders alike. When I was learning to mod I watched a few of these (not all), and two years later I am doing the whole series again to improve my modding. I am amazed at how much I do by rote I probably learned from you, so thanks! One question, when you comment on the cell location you mention a "Bethesda Recommended Location". Is there a list of these somewhere I can download?

@daniel12140 Yes you will always have to add something on the outside. In theory you could have a floating door that leads to your city, but that looks silly. How you represent the outside depends on the size of city. If you are making a few houses there are exterior models for them. It gets tricky when you get larger than that and it is part of the reason why cities have walls. The city gates lead to a cell where the city streets etc are and each house in the city leads other internal cells.

** If your exterior parts are not showing when you first arrive at your dungeon, go in to the creation kit, select your exterior parts and on the first tab (3D Data) click the "is Full LOD" box and hit okay. Do this for all exterior parts that wont show up upon first arriving. Seems like this is only a problem with large exterior pieces, such as the large pieces that were used in this video to create the outside entrance.

The pieces can be fixed if you delete a few of the other objects that are in the surrounding cells. The game loads the smallest objects first before the bigger ones and if it runs out of data the bigger objects will not be there.

It's probably a static door, I made that mistake at first. Make sure you are looking for a door inside the same sub-folder as bestinslot.

to stop the rotation from being too sensitive, select one of the objects in the world and it will rotate around that

To avoid being able to see through the door you should pick one that says "load" if I've understood this right... For example "NorDoorSmLoad1".

I seem to have a unique problem cause I’ve looked it up EVERYWHERE for the past hour and can’t find anything! When I try to “select reference in render window” and the red target pops up to place marker, it never turns white when I go over the door, or anywhere for that matter. I’ve tried deleting and replacing the door multiple times, and even tried different doors and hallways. PLEASE HELP

I haven't even touched this yet, but if I were to guess there is a way to copy the city model and lower the detail. And then place it in the exterior main map. Same with inside the city. You would place the surrounding environment lowered quality around the city. I've seen modders do this to create window vies for houses, so it is possible, I just do not know how.

Hi, I've placed a couple doors on a ruin im currently building, and im glad to say I now know how to connect the ruin to the outside world. However, I also placed a door or two inside the ruin, but when I coc into the ruin, there is no option to open them, they may as well be a wall. I've double clicked them to see options to make them "openable", but cannot see any. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I'm not sure if this still works, but in the Oblivion and Morrowind Construction Sets you could select an object and tap "f" (for floor, I guess) and if there was a surface under that object it would drop down to it.... maybe that physics thing replaced that but it's worth a try nonetheless.

I haven't got a 'Teleport' tab or checkbox. The option to select 'Yes to all' is also missing from my creation kit.. How can I fix this?

Everything was good right up to the mesh check step. Even though everything was rendering fine, I did the step anyway and now the game just crashes to desktop whenever the game tries to load the exterior cell.

Is there a console command in game for finding out the location ur stood in currently? I always run around the wilderness, find some really nice spot for a player home or dungeon or whatever and think "I should make something here", but obviously dont know what the cell is called for reference in the editor :(

Ah... I think I need some help. I placed enemies in the map, put they have teleported and died at the entrance. When I summon a creature it too is teleported to the door and killed off by some diety.

Fixed it! The Nav-point was all messed up so I just deleted it. now people are where they are supposed to be and I can summon the Cracken once more! All is well! :D

I think what you said about the Exter. not being there but the door was is just a simple glitch like one time i was put into the winterhold prison and there was no sell just a door! or like in white run sometimes there will be no houses and just doors or Not even any floor!

Yes some doors are just for show and cannot be used so just pick another and it should work, took me forever to figure out.

Followed these steps and it worked except for 1 major issue...the door from my dungeon to my player home teleports me into a void instead of my house, yet the portal reads the location of my house when I click it. I then tried it the reverse way by making an object in my house as the door to the dungeon and when I try it again I'm in a void space...anyone have any ideas??

For the future, I've done everything discussed so far... but my companions don't follow me into the cell and a summonable doesn't zone in either. What do we have to tweak to make sure all companions, even the horse, zone in with you?

I have made bunches of doorways with the wrong kind of door but there is a trick on that door reference window. Click the box that says "Open by default" and it will show you which way the door opens or if it even opens at all. I have a question on this subject though. If you are in the game and you find a great spot for a cave entrance or a shack or whatever, how do you find where you are so that you can find the same spot in the Creation Kit?

so I have a problem I haven't seen yet here. My location worked perfectly and I can use both doors, but they both come out about 2 meters left and down from where the door actually is, causing me to spawn outside the map or inside a wall depending on which door I use. I built my dungeon on the hill outside solitude, if that would for some reason cause a problem I can move it though. (by on the hill I mean follow the road straight out the gates take a sharp U-turn when the road allows and then up a ways)

also how do i edit the contents of a container without using edit base ID, because if you edit the base ID it edits EVERY container of that type to have those same contents, is the only way to do this to create your own custom container everytime? (e.g by duplicating an existing one then renaming it etc)

Is there a way to stop doors animating? I'm placing load doors into a wall and not a door frame, so when they open they either move into the wall or open so the player can see that there is a wall behind the door. If there is way to just make clicking on a door transport the player without any door animations it would be very helpful to know!

Great tutorial, but there is one problem. You need to choose the door with the ending of 'load'. This door will only own slightly like other doors in the game, and not all the way.

I made a farmhouse and I can use the door to go into and come out of the building but my follower, Lydia doesn't come with me. Both the outside entrance and inside the building are navmeshed. Do you have any ideas on what could be the problem? Does your follower follow you into your dungeon?

HI, I was wondering if you can help me on a slight problem. I am trying to create a house with people in it. I set their AI Packages to Sandbox inside the house. However, they just stand there. Is there anything else I need to do to get people to sandbox?
