I've dropped a like on all the vids in this series, but will leave a comment here. I've gotten to the point in my Skyrim journey where none of the player houses matched my preferences so I finally decided to make my own. I've already been a subscriber of yours, but just wanted to thank you for these tutorials. Though this series is 11 years old now (wow!) it's still incredibly useful and helpful -- moving into Special Edition didn't change much for using the Creation Kit. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback, I have stopped putting the music in on later tutorials now as Camtasia has been doing a poor job lowering the volume and I noticed the same issue. The music just helped fill the silence in parts of the video :-) No more background music just me yabbering on from now on. Cheers

2018 and Im just now trying to learn how to use creation kit... better late than never I guess...anyhow I noticed something that may help a bit when trying to locate the desired house pieces (or any items really)... right click an item and select Preview from the menu which will show you what each thing looks like before placing it in the cell.... eliminates the need to guess, drop the piece, realize it's not what you are looking for, delete item and repeat (as shown in video).... Simply Preview, find exactly what you need, and drop it into cell... Anyhow GREAT videos... Ive watched a LOT of vids as I'm trying to learn and yours are the easiest for me to follow.

Thank you! Now i don´t have to drag every object into the Render Window and realize it is not what i wanted and delete it. Makes Modding a lot easier.

You just duplicate the bannered mare cell but you would need to be careful doing it with a quest filled location and delete anything quest related from the duplicate cell. The other option is selecting the individual parts you want while hold CTRL and duplicating them into a new cell, but that can be awkward.

I was big time into making mods but have been away from it for a little over 9 years and needed a refresher. A comment that will make your life easier on the Doors, when it is placed if you look closely, it is showing a green line on the floor where the door will be when open, no need to do the on-default bit.

Not sure what you mean, have you built your home saved it and come back to it later and your having problems? If things have gone wrong after coming back to your mod it could be that you haven't selected your mod as Active File.

I've stopped the vid 1/4 way, I will watch later and no dougt will appreciate all your vids later but just some feed back. i come to this video expecting first off lets set up the basis of the house i expected foundation and possible sandboxing rules for different floors then walls, frame and roof then windows and doors then how to adjust settings for doors and windows if need be, then texturing. etc like I've mentioned i stopped at 1/4 way and will watch but does my feed back make sense, hope I've given you an idea of what i need as a complete novice.

Not sure what the issue is there if you mean when you go to edit the cell. Any issues you can't resolve on the kit in terms of glitches you have to just do a reinstall, I've never had that issue I'm afraid.

so i've duplicated the Falkreth Jarls lodge, taken everything i don't need out and put things like blacksmith, enchanter, arcane, kitchen, bedrooms & storage. i save it and close down next time i open it half the house & furniture are missing??

No you cannot, you will need to use a third party piece of software which is cable of changing meshes and textures and then import it into the kit. There are tutorials on KZbin for it.

If you mean for testing the cell out then you place down a cocmarker.

This is an old comment but I believe it has to do with keeping your door locked. That's at least what I've picked up from comments on the Nexus. If the door requires a key, random npcs can't get in.

I have heard of this happening before where NPC's wonder into your home, I'm afraid I have no idea why this happens. The NPC and house are created on the same esp file, I never have any issues myself with NPC's or house creation.

No, I can't build the house because the Navmesh file has a problem for some reason. When I go to duplicate AAA file, name is playerhouse then double click on that, delete all of the files except the Navmesh one, it comes up with an error message and they don't delete or the render screen just comes up with a small box with the stone wall texture.

Hey Darkfox, thank you for this tutorial. Now the Editor seems much less confusing. But I have a little problem here, can you help me out? When I click on "Edit" on the house I don't get the Window with the sliders as shown in the video. Instead I have to change the up/down positioning of the house with the Buttons Picture Up/Picture Down (and with much less accuracy). And rotating becomes completely impossible. How can I fix this. Do I have to download a specific extra-software?

Everything is gray in my Creation Kit, like when I right click to edit the name of the house like when you walk in through the front door, I cannot make changes and click "Ok" any ideas as to why that may be?

What are you clicking to move the objects around? When ever I click on anything it wont let me move the location, only rotate it bringing up the axess things.

Help me please! I'm working on my house in Markarth: I try to expand it, but I can't eliminate the suite gaps of the floor and the hallways. And there is one more thing I don't know: I can't find the top and bottom of the stairs it shows just the middle of it.

If you make a completely new building, do you have to put new lighting on it for the texture to show up in game? I have a kind of brown, sludgy looking pillar...

I've followed your tutorial as close as I could but for some reason it doesn't work for me. The files never delete and my house comes up as a whole load of different textures in the render window. I tried deleting the files but it still dosen't work. Could you perhaps help me please?

did u make the npc separate from the house mod or is it in same file? I've had a bit of trouble getting my npc to work the way i want it to . i made my house set it up on the world map went in and got a dragon flying around in side with my npc sleeping O.o another attempt i had unwanted npc's in my house a bit annoying so if you have any suggestions would be great :)

Question: If I'm building a house from scratch, how do I get the exterior of the house to match up with the interior (in terms of appearance)? In other words, are all of the exterior house pieces premade or can I design my own exterior look, too? Sorry for the poorly worded question Great vid by the way!

Thats strange then, never heard of that before, all I can suggest is reinstalling the kit. Backup your mod files first though.

I really appreciate this tutorial and many of your others! I would like to copy House of Clan Battle-Born and use that as the template for my house mod, but I'd like to add a basement onto it. Would you have any advice on how to do that?

Can you help me? I want to know if there is a way to create a room under Jorrvaskr over that empty room with a room for clipping back on top of Whiterun as oposed to being stuck underneath in a empty room by default.

I built my house, took me pretty much all day to do the i saved it and when i came to work on it the next day i did get a massage say do i want it to be the active file so i clicked yes then when tried to save some changes but i keep getting a message saying that it is a master file or is in use is there anyway to get rid of the or do i have to make another save and then load all the saves when i test it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I just installed the creation kit and started learning how to use it but before I make a house I want to know if followers can enter the new house? I recently installed a house mod made by someone else and the followers can't go in with me... is this normal? or any fix?
