I like the arranging, but I think they did themselves a disservice by not having more vocalists and expanding out their brass section and strings. Part of the appeal of "Dragonborn" is the magnitude that you feel when you hear it. When the French Horns get their first big moment it needs to call out over this monsterous horde like a battle cry or call to arms. The strings have to carry immense harmonic weight so you need about a dozen people per part on your upper strings and at least 6 cellos and 3 basses. I also think they could have gotten a LOT of extra mileage out of making use of the bass and contra instrument, bass trombone, tuba, F-tuba, contrabassoon or contrabass clarinet. That's the meanest thing I can say: use more musicians and make us feel the magnitude of this massive, frigid, hostile wasteland that's besieged by monsters and and ancient evils. My only other gripe is that the recording was too dry (as in it needed some reverb from the concert hall or some post production included in the recording). Just a touch of reverb to give the hall some more depth would help add to the experience of the performance. Awesome things: the countertenor, he could probably sing out more, but he did a good job of moving around that high. The ensemble obviously knew their stuff and played their hearts out.
@csatterley4 жыл бұрын
Yeah but it costs a lot to get such a big orchestra. Definitely heard a bass bone in there though.
@dustinakadustin4 жыл бұрын
When they recorded the soundtrack for Skyrim they had thirty vocalists and then recorded multiple times to mix it together to make it louder if I'm not wrong.
@IndependentMind1154 жыл бұрын
I agree. This sounds a lot smaller than the epic, echo-y, resonating original. The orchestra was a bit too small and a bit too loud. The orchestra should be full, but not in your face.
@anirudh_acharya4154 жыл бұрын
@@dustinakadustin yup , 30 singers , recorded 3 times - so a 90 people choir. This one can also be made more epic and brassy by digital reverbs and programmed instruments(it robs authenticity) , but I have to say , I like this approach as there are quite a few symphonic orchestra type covers.
@ashtviilon5294 жыл бұрын
I don't agree, I think the lack of that big sound is good for the purpose of this since out there are lots that sound almost like the original one. In my opinion is a good choice not to have that super big sound, this particular cover, I think, it's made with that in mind. If they wanted a monstrous sound they would have made it that way. Also it's good when a cover does not sound identical to the original because it gives that unique colour. About the reverb, I produce and I don't think more reverb its necessary, I'm pretty sure they have a good mixing engineer, maybe if they put more reverb the sound would get a little messy, while the sound here is cristal clear, all the instruments dance together and they don't fight with one another. Sorry if I have made any mistakes, english it's not my main language. Have a nice day.

@island_girl3 жыл бұрын
@@DodiTovnot necessarily. I've heard plenty of men with vibrato in their voices. Both male and female have it since its naturally occurring. after this, the entire orchestra was enslaved by the Thalmor. they are being held as prisoners and are being tortured at the Thalmor Embassy. please report to the Thieves Guild to pick up your quest.
@youonlyliveonce473 жыл бұрын
Why must one report to the Thieves Guild to pick up a quest? You do realize one can just as easily walk up to the Thalmor prison and just, oh I don't know, free the prisoners? Plenty of target practice. And if they are getting on your nerves and get too close you could always Fus Ro Dah them across the room! No need to take a detour to the thieves guild. Or the Dawnguard. Or the Companions. Or the Brotherhood. Or, well, any group for that matter! And don't say it is because you want to get paid....do you honestly need to be paid to do the right thing? How many ruins have you delved into? Make your gold there, and don't leave people in a bad situation because you want someone, somewhere, to make sure you are under contract to save these people for any kind of reward......(unless the reward is a mountain of Sweet Rolls! Then everything I said goes "Wooosh!" right out the window!)
@Skaarxiong13 жыл бұрын
@@youonlyliveonce47 that's too much work. why not just press ~ and type in "killall" and loot? or better yet, for gold, press ~ and type in player.additem 0000000f (amount of gold)
@youonlyliveonce473 жыл бұрын
@@Skaarxiong1 Because, that, Sneak thief, would be CHEATING!!! Also, if you actually read my comment you would know that I am not saving them for money. Don't need it, not interested.....unless someone were to offer me say.....a Castle full of sweet rolls! Then, and only then, would I take a detour and get THAT contract! But since no one is, I would much rather get in some target practice while doing the right thing. Release the prisoners. Then have a nice walk to the Winking Skeever in Solitude and have a much deserved mug of ale and a Sweet Roll. Random thought: Why do they call it "killall"....does it actually "killall" meaning the prisoners too? Or just the enemy? Because if it doesn't kill the prisoners too then perhaps it should be "killallenemies" instead of just "killall".
@Skaarxiong13 жыл бұрын
@@youonlyliveonce47 i see, you never play Skyrim on the PC. you can kill everyone with "killall" or "kill" point and click on who you want to die. and you can respawn any npc by using the command code. i'm a PC gamer, not console. you get more out of the PC because you can mod the shit out of it, make a 2011 game looks like it's a 2021 game. better animation, extra content that was cut out and with the folks at Nexusmods, those contents are restore. hell, if you play as a chick, you can get pregnant, your boobs and butt jiggle...giggity! hair physic, all that wonderful stuff. i have 250 mods running to make Skyrim look cool, heck, i'm playing as Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer. you can even play as Conan...Crom, i have never pray to before...being Arnold in Skyrim is the shit! and weapons...omg...so many, i'm currently using Frostmourne from World of Warcraft...the Lich King's weapon from Warth of the Lich King's xpac. what kind of gaming nerd are you?
