I disagree heavily on this. Understand loyalty, but why do we expect with players to be loyal, when the clubs are shifting players and forceing them out at the first opportunity they let them down. Just look at Newcastle treatment to coloccini and Jonas gutierrez, or Arsenals treatment to Özil, or Casillas treatment at Madrid. Let the player do what’s best for him. And if that is to leave, then Good for him.

PSG treatment on Cavani and thiago silva aswell, they didnt offer them a contract after 8 years being in the club, silva even said they didnt offer him and cavani even a single euro to stay at psg
@kickerse132 жыл бұрын
I agree. Football is full of conditional loyalty. A player could be at a club from academy and barely get a shot. Many players get shifted without a bat of an eye whilst people expect players to be loyal. It's all conditional. As long as a move makes sense then there shouldn't be a problem.

They didn’t say its right but its just the reality. Whether it was the right thing for the player to do or not basically becomes irrelevant because peoples perceptions are unfortunately more important in football than the actual reality

So many clips of him wearing Everton shirts. Maybe he just doesn’t care as much as most people and it’s all an act? I’m not sure I could bring myself to wear a Liverpool shirt or a City shirt, maybe if the kids lives depended on it, but I’d have a good think first.

It’s just a career. We’re long past the dark ignorant days of being wedded to your job. It’s not your family, it’s not your life. It’s just your profession, and there is nothing wrong with making moves in your career to achieve success & see yourself to your potential, and deserved personal fulfilment. Get with the times already guys, jeez.

Imagine winning the Ballon d'Or at the age of 22. Imagine being a hero to so many kids who grew up watching you. Imagine scoring an insane goal in the World Cup at the age of only 18. And today you are a legend in nowhere. No one chants your name, no one gives you a standing ovation everytime you appear in any stadium, be it in the stadium of your last club, your boyhood club, the best club you ever played for, or the club where you finally got the medal you wanted. That's Michael Owen for you. I swear I honestly don't see how winning a medal beats loyalty in this one. 😅

Always tough with team loyalty because every single club will drop for get rid of a player if their form falls off. No matter who it is except the top 1%. So if we’re just talking the greats I get it. But for 99% of “club loyalty” from the club is only loyalty until their form drops. Great points from both guys but it’s a business for players as much as the teams

I think the idea is don't leave for a club that is a direct rival. Best is move to another country. Also, don't leave in bad terms(like Coutinho did, stop training etc)🙏 . Ronaldo and Suarez both respectfully left United and Liverpool and also celebrated against them, but no fan from those side would ever hate these two.

At the end of the day Gerrard playing for Liverpool back then would be the equivalent of say Kevin de Bruyne playing for Aston Villa. Of course all the clubs were after him because he was arguably the best center mid on the planet playing for the forth best team in the league and frankly for most of those years without him they wouldn't have even been a top six side. The reason Liverpool fans adore him so much is because on so many occasions its hard to count, when no one else on the pitch could be arsed, Gerrard would basically have to do everything on the pitch and grab a result from nothing. I've never seen a guy on so many occasions have to become a one man team and almost kill himself trying to get something out of a bad game.

I’m curious, if Gerrard had a terrible run of form at which his production dramatically dipped and it lasted for like, a season and a half, but his desire to prove himself to the club was still there….would Liverpool had kept him on indefinitely based on the fact that a year and a half ago he was incredible? Also adding into the mix, what if he was still viable in the transfer market at which they could stand to make a profit on his sale, would they sell him? I’m not sure 🤔

Look what people have said about De Gea at times, look what we did to Ole after only 3 months of being crap. At the start of the year we were going win the league, corners turned, back on track! 3 rubbish (really rubbish though) months, and he’s shown the door.
@KevonLovelace2 жыл бұрын
@@paulshuttleworth6261 Yup exactly my thought. I think some fans forget just how fickle and disrespectful they and the club can be to their (sometimes former) star players, yet it's wrong if a player decides to ply his trade for another club because they're supposed to be loyal, even if the club as a whole is significantly underperforming and not showing any real ambition for more. Don't get me wrong, Liverpool was able to reach back-to-back Champions League finals, one of which they won, that's no small feat, but to go 20 plus years without a domestic title is embarrassing for a club of that pedigree. It's great to have the desire to bring trophies to the team you supported as a kid, but for Steven to have to play his ass off year after year trying to drag Liverpool towards being a champion in the Prem, only to come up short time and time again, I'm sorry, but he had every right to seriously entertain other options.

maybe. but grealish moving to city gave aston villa a hundred million pounds. that is valuable too in a way. countinho leaving liverpool allowed them to get alison and vvd and that helped them win champions league and the premier league. lukaku leaving gave inter a 100 mill when they desperately needed it after lost revenue because of covid 19. grealish, if he had stayed his whole career would have been a club legend. at city he probably won't be because there are kdb, sterling, silva, foden, gundogan and mahrez that all do what grealish does. in my opinion his function at city is like a whetting stone. city bringing in top players helps prevent the current ones from becoming complacent. city is a top club and the mental strength and discipline required is different than being at a mid table club where the expectations are different. the high price tag hanging over grealish won't help either. but rodri took a season to bed in, maybe this will just take time. i hope he comes good, but we shall see.
