That's a terrible combination for spending 💰 and the quality you add to the club for that money.

Ten Hag has been at the club for 2 years, in that time Unai Emery has come to Aston Villa, Postecoglou has come to Tottenham, De Zerbi has come to Brighton. 3 managers who spent less time and less money at their clubs but have added a philosophy, identity and a style of play to their clubs. Of course, it doesnt mean theyre going to win every match, all 3 of these clubs have gone through poor runs of form but when you go to the matches you know what youre going to see. I can’t see how Manchester United think that playing 3 new players and 2 teenagers who have very little experience is gonna be nothing but a walk over for an experienced team like what Liverpool had on show. Konate and Gravenberch have each played about 150-200 games and are the least experienced on the pitch for Liverpool. Liverpool had real balance on the pitch and also impressive balance on the bench filled with real quality and experience. Liverpool are genuinely title contenders from what I can see and with Chiesa to come after the international break, it should be a very interesting season.

Carragher is correct. Neville, understandably, has a significant blind spot when talking about Man United. If the club openly is courting other managers and fails to do so, that completely undermines the current manager. It's like dating other people while you're married and then saying you can't find anyone better at this point so you'll stay. It's madness.

It's easy to say change manager. But realistically who would do great with this bunch of players? Rashford is good for 4-6 games every season. Bruno is very good player against lesser teams, but does nothing when it's a tough game except for whining and complaining, Garnacho is overhyped kid, Casemiro can't cover the midfield by himself defensively anymore, Mainoo while beeing a great great talent, has very bad positionel awereness and shouldn't be played as one of 2 deep in the midfield, defense is average all over the line. And Onana is maybe 10th best gk in the league. Also the young guys like Collyer, Fish etc etc looks very average.

To be fair, Ten Hag is into his third season now. You ought to know your best formation, starting 11, etc. by now. How many years does it take to figure out how you want to play with regards to the players you have available? From a Liverpool point of view, the result is everything we wanted. Mo scored his customary Old Trafford goal, Diaz looked very sharp, the midfield trio were bossing their counterparts, the defence looked solid, overall the perfect Sunday afternoon. YNWA!
Gary is not getting the point. Liverpool went with their third choice. The management followed through with the courage of their convictions, the third choice manager tactically destroyed Man U in his third game.. everyone knows Ten Hag has to go, what good does giving him another 3 months do?

Neville's cognitive dissonance on that weird point he was trying to make. He's desperate. Carragher also pointed out that Liverpool and Bayern HAD to appoint new managers as their current managers were leaving. United on the other hand had to make a bold decision, which anybody with half a brain would know would be to sack 7hag. Instead they bottled it and extended his contract, but just by a year. So a total half arsed commitment to the manager. You either back him properly with a few more years or you sack him. You dont spend a month publicly flirting with other managers, then go back with your tail between your legs and just take the one year option. Absolutely clueless management from Ineos. So too is allowing ten hag free reign to blow the remaining budget on more Eredivise standard players.
