Everton potentially being relegated is exactly why the SuperLeague should always fail. Poorly run clubs shouldn't have guaranteed money and well run clubs such as Brentford should be able to flourish
@VR46314

I agree to a certain extent but that’s not why super league happened , super league happened and is happening in uefa because of the unsustainable financial landscape, 85% of all money going out is players wages and agents about 3% of clubs are profitable over a 3 year period , we really need a wage cap and we also need to keep money in the game , when it goes into players pockets (like the abhorrent 100m signing on fee for Mbappe) that isn’t recycled into football that’s that money gone . We are sleep walking into the Americanised model because of this

@@xv9nq Ok, I'll bite. If somebody is calling a match "the match of the century" but a match like that happens every few years then it obviously isn't a match of the century. Nobody, except Neville, is calling a Man City Real Madrid CL semi final the match of the century because it obviously isn't.
@xv9nq

@synchc
@synchc 2 жыл бұрын
@@xv9nq Calling it match of the century is giving it significance in the context of an entire century. It's that simple. Can one match be described as a match of the century and then get compared, equalled or topped by another? Of course. Does it happen every few years. Of course not. Is this one of those matches? Of course not. Calling this the match of the season is about right.

I feel like possession is the key difference today. Today's great teams are almost guaranteed 60-70% possession, compared to top teams of yesteryear, meaning, you just know Man City and Liverpool are going to going to have many more opportunities and don't have to worry about conceding too much. They've obviously earned this position but it takes the pressure off in games, especially title run in's, where it can become squeaky bum time.

Gray, I'm with you all the way on the financial aspects of the game, but, in my opinion it was your old club that started the problem. The message of it, the game, being a business for investment was the day Manchester United went public with shares. If that wasn't a signal of football being for profit incentives I don't know what is. There was no mention of the success stories that show what can be done in the leagues, Bournemouth's rise from League One with Eddie Howe being a case in point and so, Gary, it's not all bad news. This season we have a new team that's done well, Brentford, and they came from nowhere and showed us some wonderful moments. There are some great stories and I like that we have three new teams every year, and not always the same three, in the Premier League but you are right, we do need to carefully manage the relegation process financially.

I feel for Gary here because he’s comparing his ManUtd team of 1999 with the current Man City and Liverpool team but the difference is Liverpool and City win multiple trophies and get over 90 points in the league but when Man Utd won the treble in 1999 they won the league with 79 points. They would struggle to get third place with 79 points if they played today. There are levels and this Liverpool and Man City team are levels above any Man Utd team of the past.

I doubt it. City Chelsea was a flat fart of a UCL final, same with Spurs and Liverpool. As neutrals nobody really cares, and for the two teams, they're so far ahead of everyone else it's like watching Year 11s vs Year 7s. Rivalries in the past were born as 2 sides came together to do battle after both had a long season battling other opposition. That element of the game has just disappeared now. One final doesn't give birth to a rivalry. Not beforehand anyway.

Liverpool winning 1-0 at Newcastle didn't feel like the score tbh but those wins make a big difference but Man City winning 4-0 at Leeds wasn't a score but it is what it is but in truth just being a genuine fan City and Liverpool dominating league left right centre just shows you they are above others and it shows you how good they are it's painful to say it but you have to be honest because the beauty of football just shows you there is everything to win in football.
