fair play to chelsea they did put up a show against liverpool and the final stats were in favour of chelsea. they came well prepared and I think lavia did really well defensively and also played a few excellent long direct passes to the wingers to keep the attack going for chelsea. This match against chelsea is a good match practise against the top well organized teams. It provides us with good insights of gameplay details to improve on. Kudos to our lads for keeping high level concentration despite players coming back from international which we have problems with our rhythm as always after the break. Speaking of curtis jones, I think he did superb today and I don't think it's difficult to break into the team. He has this run behind getting into goal opportunity, his close control flicks and turn is great, he pressing games is definitely on top of the game given that he has played under Jurgen Klopp he has learned the intensity well among all players. Perhaps the only talking point is that he does hold on too long for that final pass. He truly fits the role as a box to box player. I would love how he can actually challenge Szoboszlai for that number 10 role. It felt like Szoboszlai has been struggling a bit since last season and his numbers as an new attacking mid is pretty low, he is often caught with two minds whether shoot or not when placed in good position, I do see him as a conventional right sided center midfielder who actually link up pretty well with salah, until his form dipped towards last season. I felt like he needed more time to adapt to the EPL and having him benched for a while might be helpful, watch the game from the sideline and see what areas he can improve in. Lastly its great and promising to see 6 english players in the first starting lineup for chelsea which only does good for England Squad selection with more games given I do see them relish the opportunity to improve and hold their stake in the team. Great to see chelsea play aggresively and pushing us to the limits. All in all a great game to watch 🎉

I'd argue that he was fairly content to let Chelsea have the ball when they are just passing it around the back or up and down the wing. Chelsea are a lot more dangerous on the counter than trying to break a side down as they showed throughout the match. Other than the goal on a counter-ish situation they posed almost no threat to the Liverpool goal. Meanwhile Liverpool, while it isn't Slot's preferred mode, are still extremely dangerous on the counter as has been demonstrated multiple times this season.

I agree I do prefer Jones. Szobo works very hard for the team though. We can’t discount the hard work he puts in the midfield.

Id have Jones over Slazbo. I think hes so overrated. He was brilliant for the first handful of games last season, hes been absolutely shocking since. I genuinely cant remember the last time he had a good game. His basic 5 yards passing beggar's belief. He will literally kick it out of play or kick it to an opposition player multiple times throughout a game. He has a good engine, but he offers little. He turns possession over constantly, trying unnecessary flicks and turns, trys to make the basic stuff look fancy. I dont rate him at all. Liverpool are playing 4-2-3-1 under Slot alot of the time. Why not Mac Allister Gravenbirch in the 2 and then Jones in an attacking roll with Salah and Diaz wide of him in the middle behind Jota

You guys are overlooking the fact that Liverpool didn't dominate the game because they were sitting so deep, leaving no space for Palmer, who was being tightly marked by three defenders. The only time he could get on the ball was when he dropped back to help the center-backs. If Chelsea had been playing their usual high-press style, they would have easily beaten Liverpool. Their approach was effective, but it was also quite dull to watch.

But the high press could have exposed themselves too. I think Liverpool's tactics were spot on and the result shows that. For all their possession Chelsea didn't really force Kelleher to make any significant saves.

@@Noone_important9 Exactly, they basically told Chelsea "you can't beat us if we aren't over-exposing ourself" and sat back. The Liverpool counter is much more dangerous than Chelsea's possession attack, Chelsea are much better countering.
