Manager transfers are becoming more exciting than winter transfer window deals

What is Jonathan on about re David Moyes? He did a great job with West Ham - he won a European trophy and very respectable finishes in the league. He would be a great choice and proven to be able to stabilise and then turn around failing clubs of Everton's stature. Jonathan needs to show Moyes more respect.
@LeafBurrower
@LeafBurrower 10 күн бұрын
On paper West Ham are the 7th richest club in the league, they should be getting "respectable" finishes. Other than the Conference League win (a competition West Ham were favourites to win) the past two seasons, including Lopetegui's stint, have indeed been dire and directionless. Liew is right, Moyes is an uninspired choice for Everton and the equivalent of an Allardyce or Pulis, pretty much an identikit Dyche.

Iv said it for the last 5 months david moyes will be the last manager to manage at goodison and the first one to manage at the new stadium it is written in the stars , he done a unbelievable job last time he was here and what he left us with and the players and leaders he brought in to that club and the mentality that came with it was the best everton we had seen since the 80s so 100% i would be so happy to see moyes back and I have been calling for it for months so my wish is coming true , sometimes the gloves fits , this is a gift if you ask me from the footballing gods

Is it me or does it seem like this Jonathon guy commentator hasn't got a clue. What he's talking about Moyes a risk as opposed to someone who has never managed in the PL especially given the circumstances regarding a relegation dog fight? "Moyes has more styles" then later says he hasn't got a defined style of play - really? Moyes is known to be pragmatic and not a Pep. Then talks out his arse saying Everton have only gone for conservative options...WTH!! Everton's list of managers I don't regard as conservative Silva, Koeman, Ancelotti. Lastly he say's Moyes claim to fame is managing Gazza, I would have thought managing Man Utd would have been a claim to fame. That comment suggests that there is something personal with Moyes. Maybe he didn't give him an interview and I don't blame him. It seems like his hiring is down to inclusivity but please Sky News at least get someone who at least can put in a decent argument.
@LeafBurrower
@LeafBurrower 10 күн бұрын
Liew didn't cover himself in glory in this interview but to call him an inclusivity hire is just crap. He's a great writer and won Sports Journalist of the year a couple of years ago. If a journo of "European" descent put in a bad shift would you ascribe it to his background? It's incredible in 2025 people still have to put up with this.

Harsh on Dyche tbh. If you look at the table today, it shows Everton are a hard team to beat but can't score goals. Lost less games than 4 teams above them, including West Ham, Man UTD Etc, and conceded less goals than 9 teams above them including Man City, Villa, Spurs ETC. Moyes has no plan 'B' and his 'defensive hit 'em on the break' style aint gonna bring the needed goals unless he spends money they aint got.
@JiminyCricket1989
@JiminyCricket1989 11 күн бұрын
Who is this clown? “Moyes is a better manager than Dyche and has more styles of play”. He literally just left West Ham due to his lack of variety in style of play 😂. “He may keep them up, he might not”. Just cover both outcomes mate and you’ll be right 😂

@LeafBurrower

@@kriskalpa West Ham's results should reflect their status as the 7th richest club in the Premier League, top of the tier behind the "Big Six" (who have pretty much contractually cemented their status within the league)--Moyes' football over the past 2 seasons was dire.

Give Dyche his dues is that he made Everton hard to beat and Everton's defensive record which is up there with the top teams, pity about the offence. He should offer his services to top teams as a defensive coach.

People keep talking about Everton's new money. Are they allowed to spend anything at the moment? In April 2024 they reported losses of £89 million for 22/23 season. They might be heading for more PSR trouble even without new signings. Will even David Moyes want to get involved in that? He must know how returning went for Howard Kendall!

Seeing this story has made me feel for Everton fans, don't bring Moyes back in the club, go out and get a good foreign manager that is able to take the club upwards and forward don't keep on settling for scraping through the seasons, Everton deserve to be top 10 minimum every season but always get let down by the managers they bring in, Jose Mourinho could be a good idea if he's willing to accept the job, and he'll attract some better players in, The Toffees cannot be in the championship when they move into the new Bramley moor stadium..

As much as I would like a manager other than moyes. The past 3 seasons have proved it Dosent matter what manager you can get in, the squad is pants, we have sacked a manager 3 januarys in a row due to relegation battle, not even Pep wouldn’t be able to do anything with this squad. What Everton need is a recruitment plan that isn’t brainless, like it has been for the most part of the last decade

lazy journalism! Moyes' bit - do they even know what are they talking about? clueless thickheads Potter's bit - he didn't wait for next job because he was contemplating life, he was still on Chelsea's payroll! He simply waited for it to run out - it's obvious to everyone who has some gray matter between their ears, sadly these lot miss that.
