It's striking how Roy would do his own abilities down in interviews when he'd scored a big goal, usually choosing to focus on the quality of his teammates instead. Obviously the comment about Neville was said with a wink and a nudge, but you get the impression that everyone involved was in on the joke and having a laugh with it. Roy wasn't just a ranter and raver, he really was the manager's representative on the pitch.

Passing, Crossing were some of Gary's best attributes, he was not the type of full back to put the ball infront of people and go past them by pace alone, or dribling.

Not a Man United fan but the partnership between Gary Neville and David Beckham was something to admire. Gary Neville was a reliable defender and would make key decoy runs to open up space for Beckham to whip a cross in or put in a decent cross himself!

But Roy he’s only doing his job😂😂

Neville's crossing ability was underrated. He was a very good crosser of the ball. Of course more often than not it was Beckham delivering pinpoint crosses with Neville supplying dummy runs but any time defenders decided to double up on Beckham under the assumption that he was the main threat (and he was), they'd forget that Neville also had a good cross. Maybe not quite as consistently accurate as Beckham's crosses but whose are?

Best thing Rangnick could do is get Keane in as his assistant manager. The standards at Manchester United, these days, are appalling in comparison to the 90's and early 00's. Yes, we all know he wants to be #1 and have the hot seat. Yes, we all know he wants no involvement while Fergie has anything to do with the club but Roy Keane, at 50 years old, would be the best signing the club has made in the last decade or more...

Awful opinion. You don't win 8 league titles under Fergie by being bang average. He could've had a world class right back brought in if Neville was that average, never needed to.
@OutcastFPS2 жыл бұрын
He was a solid FB, good positioning, passing, he was a defensive FB for sure, and that's all he needed to be, Man Utd had some many talented players to do the work on wing, no need for the fullback to risk it. I've seen an amazing right back at my club, international player for Portugal, he was a machine dribling, beating everyone for pace, just putting in several sprints every game, beating 3, 4 players, gettting close to the box...guess what he couldn't cross a ball to save his life. Spectacular yes, not very effective. It's best to have a Gary Neville, you know he is not going to make silly mistakes or waste a good ball.
@kiritsugusama87862 жыл бұрын
@@OutcastFPS that's my point. A 6/10 player . He's no marcelo, roberto carlos or philip lahm. My point is that United could achieve more with a better player

Gary Neville was not a talented player. But his dedication, work ethic is out of the question. And he never tries to hide it. The main reason why he played for England and Manchester United for so many years, was his high standards. Even now, he takes punditry to another level with his high work ethic. Therefore, he has all the right to criticise players, who are performing below standards. You can not criticise a player for lack of talent, it's out of one's control. But work ethic of a player can be criticized Look at Pogba. A very talented, yet lazy player, who did not live to expectations.
