I'm from San Diego and as a young person had the pleasure of living in Atlanta twice 81-83 and 86-87 and just *_loved_* it and loved the Southern folks!. Oh it was so fun. Hotlanta! LOL! I worked at RBM of Atlanta which was their Mercedes dealership back then. I understand it's no more. I worked for their service dept driving people to-from their destinations when they brought their cars for servicing, which was often to beautiful Buckhead! Buckhead's kinda Atlanta's equivalency to our La Jolla / Point Loma areas. It's just lovely as are it's people. However I use to also pickup and drop-off customers down to Hartsfield as well and from what I remember or was told it was all brand new back then! Well I mean all of its underground which just amazed me especially being use San Diego's rather small airport. Of course all of that underground MARTA subway was pretty new then with some of it's stations just opening or even still in construction! That whole MARTA underground Atlanta era was very big back then and very exciting with all sorts of interesting history behind it. I think one of the stations that opened new while I was there was Lenox Mall and I remember they buried a time capsule underground to be opened in something like 50 years? OMG, that's only in like 7 years from now!? Oh my I was just flushed with a wave of oldness! 😅 Has it really been that long? Well I think I'll have to go back to attend the unearthing LOL! 😊 Well anyway I had SO much fun back then in good ole Atl! I watched ET and Poltergeist back there! And Halloween 2! And Endless Love! LOL! 😂😅 Anyways that's my little Atlanta story, wow, didn't mean to drone on so! Great memories tho! That's what your *_excellent_* videos do man! 👍👍 Thanks for sharing them they're always awesome to view! 😊

Pilot question: at 22:09, what is that small "flap" acting as an aileron to turn the plane to the left? I thought the ailerons were at the wingtips. What is the difference between these two?
@sla313 жыл бұрын
That my friend, is a flaperon. It is a hybrid mix between a flap and an alerion. It helps provide extra lift as a flap, but also moves quickly and frequently to assist the wingtip alerion with maintaining the proper roll. It's a very interesting and unique piece of aircraft to read about.

If you sat on the port side of the cabin you would have gotten a great view of downtown San Diego just before landing. I don't live in San Diego but I recall at least one attempt when they tried to move the airport further north away from downtown and the densely populated areas around downtown, expansion of the airport and noise abatement were two reasons but that never came to fruition.
@sla313 жыл бұрын
That's true, but here's why I didn't sit on that side. Since this was a westbound flight, I needed to sit on the right side to prevent the camera from overheating. Since we're in the northern hemisphere, the sun tracks across the southern sky. If I had been on the left side, not only would you have had to stare at hard light the entire time, but the camera would've overheated after about 45 minutes. Sitting on the soft light side not only provides a better quality picture to look at, but the area around the window doesn't get hot like the other side. It's very difficult to film a "full flight" into SAN and sit on the left side. Because of San Diego's geographic location, most flights arrive from the east. I did take a flight from HNL-SAN recently, where I was able to sit on the left side. That flight is coming to the channel soon.

@sla313 жыл бұрын
I travel with two onn battery backups. Both have 20,000 mAh and can fully recharge my iPhones up to six times each. I was going to leave the link to the product. But it’s literally 1 million characters long. So here is the Walmart product number. WIA20B100008835 I honestly have no idea if onn is considered to be a good company for this stuff but I have had no problems with either of mine. They also have decent reviews, and I would back that up, however they’re a little more expensive now than when I bought them. When I bought mine they were on sale for $20 each. I have never run out of back up battery with these. Typically, I film the takeoffs and landings without the phone being plugged into the back up, and then after we get to cruising altitude, I usually have the phone plugged in.

Deltas 76s are such nice rides especially if you get one of the two outside seats. How would you say Dls 76s compare to their a330s? Im still trying to catch a 764 and the A350 on a domestic route. Beautiful morning to fly here. Great video as always! Oh one more thing do you ever capture footage of the flightdecks? I don't ever remember seeing any.
@sla313 жыл бұрын
Well, believe it or not, I've never flown on Delta's 767-300 or their A330-300. So, I only have a reference of their A330-200, A330-900N, and 767-400. Personally, I really like flying on all of the ones I just listed. They're all pretty close to each other honestly, in terms of the onboard product. I'd probably put the A330-900N as my top choice, but they're also shiny and new so... Their 767-400's are really nice too. I'd probably pick the 767-400 over an A330-200 if I had the option, simply because of their rarity, but that's just because I'm an avgeek and doesn't really have any "real world" factors behind it. A330-200's are kind of a dime a dozen, whereas only 32 or 34 (can't remember the exact number) of 767-400's were ever built. Also, no, I don't typically show the cockpit. I know the crews would probably gladly show me, but I try to make my videos as close to what everyone watching would see, if they took the flight, and 99% of people aren't going to stop by the cockpit. I also worked for the airlines for about 6 years right out of college, and I know how critical time is to them when they're on the ground. I don't want to take up any of their ground time keeping the flight crew from their duties. Maybe I'll try to some in the future.

Whats your advice who have anxiety about flying?
@sla313 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not trying to just plug my own channel here, but watch videos like mine and others who have similar videos. I have never suffered from a fear or anxiety towards flying, so I can't speak from personal experience, but I get a lot of people who comment on my videos who tell me that they have really helped them overcome their fear/anxiety. I've also had several people specially say that their therapist was who told them to watch them to begin with. Now, I don't pretend to be any type of certified doctor, but watching videos like these, so you can get a good sense of what to expect, what nosies are normal, what procedures are normal, is probably a really good way to help ease your anxiety. There are also some medications that can be taken to help relax you, which I'm sure you're aware of, but I understand when a lot of people say they don't want to take stuff like that. I don't know if that helps at all, but hopefully it does. Regardless of why you watch, I always appreciate everyone who takes the time to stop by the channel, so thanks my friend!

plane is flying quiet low when it landed. It was like less than 100 feet high passing that nearest high way to runway.

This is such a lame observation to make but i find those flaps are gorgeous, especially after takeoff when they pull up into the rest of the wing

Amazing footage. PS: Didn't hear reverse thrust on landing.
@sla313 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend. Yeah, I was surprised. They definitely didn't use any reverse trust to help slow us down.
@aj7423 жыл бұрын
More than likely the pilot flying just opened the thrust reverse doors and kept engines on idle power = idle reverse and let the brakes do the rest. Somewhat surprising given the size of the aircraft relative to the runway and the displaced threshold (so the available landing distance is even shorter than the total 9,400 ft length), but it's doable on a dry runway.

No reverse thrust?

Surprisingly no. I was kind of amazed they were able to land and stop a 767-400 at SAN with no reverse trust. Thanks for watching!

How you record so long? 😄

he uses a stand
@sla313 жыл бұрын
No, I do not use a stand. Or any type of mount. I hold the camera by hand, even on long flights like this. Over the years, and with lots of practice, I’ve gotten really good at holding the camera for long periods of time, while being very steady. I don’t use any type of stand or mount for three reasons. First, there are some airlines that just don’t allow it. They won’t allow you to attach anything to the airplane, even if it doesn’t cause any damage. Southwest is a notable airline here. Second, even airlines that technically allow it, certain crews won’t. So even if Alaska Airlines allows it, you might get a crew, where one of the crewmembers says no. And last, there are a lot of vibrations that run through aircraft. From the engines, to simple wind resistance, and turbulence. When you attach a camera to a mount, that is then attached to the airplane, all of those vibrations get transferred into the mount. These vibrations then gets transferred into the lens of the camera. This often leads to what I call the jello effect. Where the footage starts to become warped, as if you’re filming through a bowl of clear jello. This type of distortion on the footage is simply unacceptable to me. I want my footage to be the highest quality possible, and a mount or stand doesn’t give me that.

@sla313 жыл бұрын
@@macostapr3951 no problem my friend. Most of the time people do assume I use some type of mount. It’s definitely not easy to feeling like this for long periods of time. So, it only makes sense. But, I do not.

Ja ja. The 767-400. With this plane Boeing tried to get back it's reputation as the queen of the North Atlantic which they lost with their 767-300 ER to the A 330-200. It didn't work out because only Delta and United ordered that variant.
