Great simple overview with cost estimate. Some other companies go crazy when asked about how much. Finally got a quote that came in at $88k to fix a 1"-4" slants of a 3 story house built in 1996 in Washington state. 26 of 29 helical piles will be installed inside foundation basement and 30 feet of C6x8.2 steel channel and poly-foam fill. Approx 44x30. Seems like the middle of the house is good and the north and south of house slant down. Is it possible to get a ground compaction test and see if I can save money and have a foundation company with engineering jack it up to level and add more foundation ?

Hi David! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. We would not recommend jacking the house up just to pour a new footer or foundation wall. Many times, the problematic soil is beneath the house, even dozens of feet below. The proper solution to a settling foundation is the pier solution. They are choosing Helicals for your due to the reduced weight from just a slab. At the end of the day, the Helicals are what will save you money.

So if a seller says that a house on the market had foundation work, but you hear crunching under the vinyl floor when you walk and the floor is uneven, is it safe to assume that either they are lying, it was a cheap job(still lying), or they skipped the poly jacking?

Hi @mcl46! There should definitely not be crunching under the floor. The floor being uneven is a sign of foundation and/or I-Beam issues. They *may* have gotten *some* work done, like a foundation crack or something, and in that they were telling the truth if they did. But what it appears to be, from your description, is they did not do *all* of the foundation work necessary. I would request the contracts and warranties from the company they used to repair the foundation. If they don't have that, they either didn't do it or had a handyman do it, which is not adequate for foundation repair.

How do you warranty a slab that has been Polyjacked? My neighbor tried to readjust his foundation that had foam and the company could not lift it with metal piers 4 ft apart?

It seems that company did not drive their piers deep enough. Many times, we have seen, other companies will drive piers to inadequate depth and wonder why the structure won't lift. Slabs are warrantied for 5 years with Polyjacking. This is only for low-weight situations and the underlying water issues must be taken care of to prevent further issues.

What about an end unit townhouse? Can they be repaired?

Those can be done as well. It all depends on the size of the structure that is being supported. The same spacing applies, unless the structure is 3 stories and taller, in which case the piers would need to be spaced closer to 3' apart.

Are concrete pressed piers an alternative and is it a good option? Got quoted $7k for entire home 1,800sqft

Concrete piers aren't as effective as galvanized Helical or Push Piers, but they can work depending on the area, soil conditions, and weight of the home. Be sure to read the fine print of the terms carefully before making your decision!
