@@jayhart1561 I can guarantee that 3 second long barrel Sheldon gets at 2:47 is as gratifying, if not more so than any 15.3 second long one in Kelly's pool. If you've ever surfed over a shallow reef on a big day you understand. Finding the perfect one, getting barreled on it, and the stoke of making it back to the beach unscathed are things no kid in a wavepool will ever feel. Not in our lifetime anyway. Guys aren't taking numbers and waiting for their turn out at 8-10 foot Pipeline. There's a pecking order for a reason.

The small amount of time we spend riding the waves is such a small part of surfing and what makes it appealing. Learning weather patterns, becoming familiar with certain spots, BEING IN THE OCEAN the list goes on. Wave pools are awesome and we dreamed of them as kids, they have their place within surfing but are by no means a replacement.
