A band of my youth, my twenties, thirties, middle age and to be played at my funeral. I was there that night. My first ever live gig. It is burned into my memory. I still have the ticket stub but the rosette I bought didn't last the journey home. I floated home from the tube station that night. I went alone to that show because by then the fickle fans, my mates at school were already deserting the band but I never did. SLADE TILL I DIE.

Saw them in Newcastle at the legendary Mayfair and at Reading 1980 and Donington in 1981, absolutely brilliant live, bloody loud as well.

As a USA guy, we never got a fair version of Slade. I love them to this day, I just wish they had been able to get proper exposure in the US

They toured 75/6, couldn't get a hit record then but had some success in 84 with Run Run Away
