I agree with you, but for a different reason. While other "Heavy Metal Pioneers such as Zeppelin & Sabbath were pretty much inspired by Their Rock versions of blues songs, Slade were most likely the first band to bring Rock & Roll to the extreme that it later became in The '80's. For instance take Skweeze Me for an example. Who were playing straight forward songs as that??

They said something back in the early '70's, while in competing for the The Top Of The Charts with T.Rex, that Slade was A Four-Man Band while T.Rex was A One-man show. They were right & I can't think of many other bands that really didn't cast members aside to become prima Donna's for their selves. Hats off to The Actual Noise Boyz.....

@skintrade Slade had an image problem they had to fight against. Duran Duran looked more "cool". People are usually fooled by issues like image and by the media. The truth is, that Slade made fabulous records in the 80s and continuously evolved during their entire careers. Slade s music has more depth and variety in styles than Duran Duran. If you know you are briliant band like Slade, why give in? They had lots of fun making SUPURB music. Best and most versatile UK band ever.
