I like the way you put that, as a lot of hard-rock bands back in the '70's were either based on blues, or trying to make something "Heavy" out of Pop. Aside from Slade, who were straight out Heavy Rock, the only other one I can think of is Blue Cheer.

It's amazing how a single band can have a real effect on your whole life. As a kid I wasn't into music as such I just heard what my parents liked then one night......... Top Of The Pops..... BABY BABY BAYYYYBEEEEEE! That was it. My musical direction for life was set. Slade Sweet Sabbath Priest UFO Kiss Maiden Purple Ghost Rammstein Just some of the bands I would never have heard and loved if I hadn't watched the telly that night. I've never looked back. 😊

Way back when I was about 15 years old a friend had a party at his house when his parents were away and this song among other Slade tunes brought the house down. The police showed up busting everyone for drinking under age, but what a hell of a 3 day party it was. We tried to hide in the basement but the police found us..LOL Time goes by so very fast - I'm 63 now

Agree with you, however, Slade were a bit different than AC/DC & Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin. They weren't blues-based, nor did all of their songs sound the same. They were straight out Hard Rock.A crying shame they never made it big in The USA. They deserved it.
@richardhullah2974
@richardhullah2974 Жыл бұрын
Yes I agree they were unlucky in the US through circumstances. But I think during the 80's they were on the verge of something big when Jim was taken ill and dates cancelled. After that they got tired of touring and that basically was the end of the band as a live act. Still think they should have pursued the US more though instead of giving up.
