It's coming along really well. I just changed the water pump on my wife's gmc Yukon. I was going to ask you if you don't mind me asking how much did everything you did cost you. I'm going to have to rebuild or buy replacement engines for my wife's truck and mines. Just want to know if maybe doing it your way would save me some money. I've researched remanufactured engine's and they are going for about $2,500 - $3,000. Also are remanufactured engine's the best way to go? Appreciate your support
@TWAMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
I probably have $1000 in gaskets, bolts and head work. Its crazy
@superior33844 жыл бұрын
@@TWAMotorsports wow. $1,000 . That's not bad. That is something to really consider. Our engine's have over 200,000 miles on them. I'm not sure if I would have to worry about the short block. But the way your doing it sure would freshen up an older engine for sure.
@TWAMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the 5.3s last a while if taken care of.
@trentdawg28324 жыл бұрын
Just don't look at those cam bearings while doing that cam swap...as you were looking at the bearings. ...lol....you know trick flow makes a tensioner adapter for those gen 3 motors and you don't have to drill it bolts wit the cam plate and uses the dog bone tensioner that you were talking about, I wanna say summit sells them for like $50....I never soak my lifters....I give them the R.kelly golden shower treatment. ...but next time I think I will do your dip method seems to be a little cleaner!!!!.....on the last 5.3 I had I ran a asa cam, it only has .525 lift so I think you can get away with stock springs, but it's a lopey and stinky cam, my wife hated whenever I'd start my car in the garage and gas, out the house, she kept crying so a switch that cam out for something not on a 110lsa.....although that asa cam has a powerband like 2 stroke it's actually pretty fun on the street and sounds mean!!! But I don't think you want that for that new of a truck, the tune would be hard to do on the stock ecm. I'm running a fitech ls setup so it tuned itself. It was in a 68c10....and on my nova too, I've had good results with the fitech ls setup so that's why I did both vehicles with em.....next time I'll do the holley terminator x. ........I snapped one of the small bolts on the heads it was the second one from the back so I just sent it, still running fine 3yrs later no problems. If it was a big one then I'd be worried
@TWAMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
I didn't love the trick flow part. I actually ordered that tensioner and tried it off camera. Fitment wasn't up to my liking.
