I agree with you that some of these retcons are really strange. It makes the Darkspawn and origin story of the Black City look dumb once you boil it down the Blight being a science experiment by the ancient elves. I like this game, but they should've kept that level of mystery to the darkspawn that they removed with this game.

Idk if you can call that a complete retcon when the Bible story of the fade, maker, and darkspawn was directly called into question over the course of the series

Also, I know people hate the current story, but according to the art book, all 3 versions of Dragon Age 4 roughly had this "elves being the species that created life" motif going on. They were always going to do the elves & titan plotline in every version of the game's development cycle.

I’ve seen lots of people that it isn’t a Dragon age game but like, lots of these things have been sprinkled throughout its past! Some of the ideas have been streamlined but for what you get, by the end game it feels Very Dragon age to me🎉

Such a waist for the veil jumper , they could make this new civilization with asiatic traits that veiljump to find new places .
