Hi Tan, I still take the horse pill vitamins because I don't eat pork and gummy vegan vitamins are too hard to find. In regards to boycotting Target and other establishments, I first want to say that I am sorry that this happened to one of your favorite stores. I honestly feel that in a few months people are going to go back to shopping at these places. The Montgomery bus boycott lasted a year it would be great if we as a whole boycotted Target for a year but I can't remember any recent boycotts lasting a year. There was a Starbucks and Gucci boycott a few years ago and they didn't last long. I always looked at Target as just a company who wanted to make money so that's why they sold products that would appeal to black people. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.
@TheUnfrumpyMommyLifeКүн бұрын
Hi Cynthia, this is a great comment. I would say that the goal of a boycott is not necessarily for it to last a certain length of time. I think if a company tries to make it right, then the boycott can end. I felt like both Gucci and Starbucks took some appropriate steps to rectify their wrongs. Starbucks closed more than 8000 stores to provide racial bias training. Gucci deeply apologized for the offense and committed to increase diversity. They launched a multicultural scholarship program with the goal of providing a more inclusive workplace. They hired Dapper Dan, Wii-I-Am, and Eric Avila to helm a 3 tiered cultural awareness initiative. Of course, all of this is just PR, so no company will get it 100% right. But Target needs to tell me something before I step foot back in one of their stores. Finally, I would say previous incidents were not aligned with a presidential administration that is just plain evil. It's unacceptable for Target to just blindly follow the lead of MAGA.
@Cynthia__FКүн бұрын
@@TheUnfrumpyMommyLife I didn't want to bring up MAGA because I told myself to limit conversations about them because it is not good for my mental health.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thought Tabitha Brown missed the mark with her response. And we love her with all due respect, but she was trying to worry about herself with her sales instead of thinking of the highest good of all. Just like you said, everyone has to be all-in and on code for *not* getting on the bus. And this is just an opportunity for black businesses to grow independently within our own communities. For someone in her experience and expertise, it takes next to nothing to start a website so customers can buy your items directly from the Source! And as a business owner you have to be resilient and determined. Have direction with backup plans for the backup plans knowing that there are many times you'll have to start over again!

I get it 100%, and if I was in her position I would likely do the same. However, buying ANYTHING in Target is supporting Target. These companies will not change until we force change. It’s crazy that they can give us the middle finger and we still kiss the ring!

I dont have the patience for this. I am not going to drive 30 miles to a Costco. I will continue to go to the same companies I've been going too. If we cut the demand for the black products the stores will what...remove the products because of no demand. You can order from donnarecipes without Target. You can order direct from Lip Bar. Those are the two black products I get from Target. People are naive to think DEI was going to be here to stay. Corporations are not and have never been loyal to anyone.

As far as the DEI rollback, please know that the DEI program benefited the LGBTQIA+ and non-black women brands at Target mostly. In addition, the current black brands like Jolie Noire, The Lip Bar, etc, aren't suddenly getting pulled from Target's shelves because of this. Did anyone actually research and see what was being rolled back? If not, please do so for yourselves using a neutral source for information. We as a people need to realize that this is not our fight. Why is the back literacy rate so low in primarily back cities with black officials? Why are blacks continuously the largest consumer and lowest investor? In addition, what happened to black-boycotting of Gucci for the blackface turtleneck or H&M when the young black boy wore a monkey shirt in their ad? Like other black-boycotts, this Target boycott will come and go in the black community because we as a people are so reactive to what's being fed to us in the media. Can we please stop acting so quickly on emotion and actually do some additional research about what's truly affecting us? THIS is not our fight; we have so much more to focus on! --Britt

It’s not just about blacks, it’s about white women, Asian, native Americans, disabled, veterans and spouses, legal immigrants, those that speak a second language, white men and blacks. I believe that they are the seven or eight categories in the DEI handbook. The white women and men, the Asian communities and the military veterans weren’t looking at the details and were fooled by the GOP.

I’m only shopping black business items at Target this month and being selective. I’m supporting them and their move to DTC. BTW Costco is an ally today, and not next CEO or when an aggressive shareholder pushes harder and succeeds. People there is a much, much bigger game being played and huge billionaire funds are behind all of this. It’s not just Target and Amazon,but a push to end gov DEI funding, enroll at colleges, and more. We are need to play chess not checkers.
