Marco is possibly the most overlooked musician in rock and roll. Absolutely brilliant playing at every turn.

In all the not very many interviews with Marco I've seen he always comes across as a guy who doesn't suffer fools gladly and always speaks his mind. Also gives the impression that he would be hard to befriend but would be a very loyal one when you actually did.I can understand now after seeing him in a few interviews why he's stood back from all the bullshit of the celebrity thing and refuses a lot of offers to play or work with people. He's earned that right and can very much please himself these days.I'd do exactly the same.

Chris did the versions of Cartrouble pts 1&2 that appeared on the Antmusic EP before he met Adam. Ian Tregonin's original plan was for the Antmusic EP to be the final record for the Do It contract so he gave Chris the tracks. Adam vetoed it because he wanted to do something new for the final Do It release but decided to get chatting with Chris and that was how he ended up producing Cartrouble/Kick. The Antmusic EP meanwhile spent two years on the shelf.

No one was fired before Dirk. Andy Warren and Matthew Ashman were fired after the September 1979 Electric Ballroom shows which Adam thought were crap gigs. Then a couple of months later when Adam needed a band for the Malcolm thing, he offered them back their jobs. Matthew accepted, Andy declined.

Really good to see Marco on good form. Enjoyed the comments about Andy Warren. I've never heard him talk about Maff's guitar playing though, but he mentioned feedback and the different style he brought to the old songs. Would be interesting to know how he rated Maff.
The "little" "dinky" sound on Dirk is totally unrepresentative of what the Matthew Ants were like - they were much heavier and glammier and dirtier in concert. The Decca demos are closer the mark. Dirk is a failed attempt at doing a soul/funk/disco album, the SGS demos are a better attempt.
