His tone sounds really flat I find, also I know his playing has always been very blues based but nowadays he leans more towards blues than hard rock in his solos. It just sounds very generic.

This is such a terrific video for Appetite Slash tones, thanks Ross! And it's funny: this has made me realise just how much keeping the bass and mids in my lead tone is so ingrained that I honestly don't think I'd ever have figured out this particular tone without your help today! So again, thank you! Hmmm...future tones? Dialling in some Hendrix fuzz tones would be great, with octave fuzz tones a bonus. Speaking of fuzz, Matt Bellamy's thick but still musical fuzz would be fantastic to get my head around too. Btw for reference, I'm using a HX Stomp and HXFX combined.

Excellent tone, video, and playing, especially the intro to My Michelle🤯 Please share as much as you can about the entire signal chain, starting with guitar pick (size, shape, and material :) For instance, a hardwood pick will brighten and emphasize attack without affecting much else. And the less popular fender 346 pick’s shape in white celluloid has a harmonic-rich midrange sound, but is more difficult to use than the usual 351

Very good approach of Slash's tone, the only thing I'd change is the bass part... Don't forget Slash used a modded Superlead on Appetite and those amps are already very trebly, specially cause ppl plug into the high treble input and jumper the other inputs for more body with an extra gain stage.. so I'd say keep the bass at least between 11-2 o clock otherwise your tone will sound extremely harsh and thin... also crank the presence instead of cranking the treble, that bite lies in the mid highs around 1-5khz, so I'd crank the mids and presence and roll back the treble around 11 o clock.

Great tone, great playing !! I know you told it, but I fell like there's too much low end even now 😅. Cause if you listen the "isolated tracks", Slash is way more acid than this. We tend to ignore it because we listen his tone within bass and drums in the mix. That's why it seems beefier and fat. Into a mix there's a lot to hi-pass here. But you rock, man ! 🍻

Help an old geezer out please! Haha. I'm not sure I understand the signal "chain" so to speak with this type of setup. So we have a (1) Guitar => using an instrument cable with an XLR on the other end directly into an (2) Audio Interface device => that device is connected to your (3) Computer (via USB, etc.) where you're using a software DAW or similar software that allows you to select and manipulate digital amp models, pedals, etc, for your desired sounds, => and finally that audio interface is also connected to a pair of (4) studio monitors (or similar) where you can actually hear what you're playing in real time? Appreciate any help. :)
@RossCampbellGuitarist2 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Guitar plugs into the audio interface using a regular jack cable - no XLRs needed. Interface connects to computer and also has monitors and/or headphones connected to it. You can of course use the plugin within a DAW but the cool thing about the Neural plugins is that you can also use them without a DAW by just opening it on your computer like an app.
