@Rockingoodman There's a huge difference between playing a harmonica & singing. The man blew out his vocal cords & had to have surgery & then recovery/PT. Then the entire tour has to be planned all over again, and in a way that hopefully this won't happen again. But the good news is, according to an acquaintances sources that planning is almost complete and the tour is expected to begin in September.

@RockandrollNegro10 ай бұрын
Just so that nobody is confused by what you meant by "played originally," Hubert Sumlin played the lead guitar on Howlin Wolf's original version. Wolf, who wrote the song, sang and played electric rhythm guitar. Lafayette Leak played the piano, Buddy Guy played the acoustic rhythm guitar, Blueblood McMahon on bass, and Sam Lay played drums. Though "Killin' Floor" is considered a Howlin Wolf original, it borrows a lot from Skip James' "Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues" from 1931.

Someone that’s been playing and teaching blues for decades I can say this is the real deal. This IS blues. Slash tears it up on the ES guitar and Brian is masterful on the vocals. I’m already sharing with my students.

I found Brian's approach was the worst part of the song. Disappointing. I think he was sort of talking thru it and not really singing? I love all the guys on this song, and I know and love the song. But in my opinion, it didnt work. I'd like to hear a version where Brian really sings it. Even if he sings it low, slow, whispers, whatever... this song with him singing should be brilliant. But it's just not.

@@SoxonTV Brian lost his voice... or used it all up. AC/DC was never an easy gig for a singer. Bon Scott set the bar high... none better.
@SoxonTV9 ай бұрын
@@JoeGator23 yeah, it's interesting how different singers have handled that problem. Vince Neil sounds like shit. Axl changed-up his style and seems to be making it work and Robert Plant just sort of whispers the high notes and he sounds amazing!

@@john3music yeah, one of my favorite genres. I own all the of the Chess Records and Alligator Box Sets. Love Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, I saw and met Stevie Ray Vaughan, got to see and hang out with Pat Benatar at her "True Love" Blues concert. I love all the harp players... I wrote/directed a Stageplay about Blues being the Roots of Rock and Just saw Buddy Guy again recently. I know they often sing/talk but it's often over an acoustic guitar, maybe thumpin' their foot for bass? I'm not against any style or show of creativity. Just to my ears, his delivery didnt work on this particular song. And I like him so much, I just would've liked to hear it more simpatico?
