For anyone having hi-hat issues with SSD 4/5 form the MPS-850 module, you must use the old school "midi out", rather then the usb midi output. I used a cheap midi to usb converter, and now works perfectly with no mapping required. (But do load kit conversion Roland TD20/30 as mentioned before)

hi, first sorry for me english!, I have a problem with the hihat, the foot pedal sound does not work with ssd4/5, and the note enters correctly but is NOT heard. I have changed the midi cable and I have put the old school one, but now when I play the snare or other pad several times the sound keeps changing, as if the midi note changed, do you know why this happens? any solution? can it be midi cable problem? With addictive drum 2 no problem with that :-/ Thanks!

Diego contreras del rio Hi, make sure not to use the usb socket at all on the mps850 module and that you plug the “midi in” into the midi out socket of the mps850 module. Hola Carlos , tengo un problema cuando uso SSD 5 en mi batería MPS 850 , cuando abro y cierro el hit ha , a veces suena y otra no y también me pasa que cuando cierro el hit ha y le doy a la caja me apaga el sonido , e buscado las notas midi y por lo que veo está todo correcto , ya no se qué hacer , la verdad que es una pena que con este software me pase esto . Con el módulo de la propia batería no me pasa. Un saludo , ayuda por favor ...

Carlos hola... tengo el sed 5.5 la versión gratis, ya instalada en mi pc (Mac) tengo el siguiente problema: El pedal de hihat no suena ( emite la señal ) solo en los audífonos no suena, pero si queda grabado normal en mi programa GarageBand suena perfecto. Cuando uso el GarageBand solo, sin el SSD 5 suena el pedal de hihat siempre sin problemas. Pero al abrir el programa ssd el sonido del pedal del hihat no suena siempre, tiene muchas intermitencias. He cambiado la señal midi de la batería ( Millenium MPS 850 E durm ) para otra nota libre pero nada. Todo como siempre. Un gusto gracias por leer esto y increíble tu trabajo.

Hola. Compre está batería gracias a este vídeo jijiji. Y he instalado el ssd5 para conseguir casi tu sonido pero me encuentro con un problema. El caso es que cuando llevo unos 80 segundos tocando ssd5 no se porque razón deja de mandar la señal al track MIDI con el que estoy tocando. No se si me explico. He probado muchas. Cosas. Conectarlo a otros usb. Cambiar el orden de encendido de los equipos etc etc. Pero no consigo que se quede activo por más de un minuto. Podrías ayudarme?? Gracias de antemano

Roberto Ignis - FILM COMPOSER Hi Roberto, the controller I think send about 4 articulations which is pretty good for a low budget kit like this, plus that SSD5 gives you even more articulations so you can get a quite real feel when playing. Isn’t the real thing but it gets closer.

Just ordered it and got it shipped to Chicago. They have good customer service and warranty. Other brands that I was looking at was the TourTech and alesis nitro but both had bad customer service. Tourtech didn’t even have a contact number or email on their website to contact them.

@@Prosonicstudio I already got it. I ordered it in may 5th and received it on the 10th. Not bad for shipping from Uk to Chicago. I did have to call my credit card to allow transaction to go thru and then I called Thomann letting know to try again. So far I like this kit. Everything is responsive and even the stock sounds are good. I’m a beginner at drums but I will try to learn more every day to go along with my guitar. This drum kit drives you to learn and practice more. It’s very fun to play to. For me it’s the best kit because it has dual zone on all symbols and drums plus good customer service. They ship to USA too.

Jos Langer Hey Jos, thanks for your comment! Always will be a latency due the MIDI processing and getting error audio signal back on your monitors, but if you work with a sample rate between 128 and 256 samples you won’t even notice it. This can be set up on the preference menu on the DAW you’re using.

Hi! Have you ever issued a problem with the hihat foot pedal sound using MPS-850 and SSD 5.5 together? It gives me a signal and it is mapped correctly, but SSD plays the sound very randomly. I'm using SSD with Logic X. Hihat pedal sound works fine with Logic's Drum Kit Designer though.

Hi Mikko, I've heard about that issue. Someone said once on the comments he solved that problem using a MIDI cable, NOT USB. Mine works just fine with USB Cable, but you could try doing that, it might works for you as well.

rodri drums Hola Rodri! Pues el Logic Pro lo consigues en la App Store, recuerda solo está para Mac. Y el Slate Drums lo consigues en la página web de Slate Audio, en la descripción del video dejo el link. Estos software van instalados en la computadora, no en el módulo. Hey Luan, I just use the Roland TD-30 mapping preset and it works. You might have to tweak a little bit some thinks but with that preset you should have almost every pad working fine. Hope it helps!

Hola Pardelho! Que bien, espero la disfrutes! Pues funciona perfecto, quizá debas mapear algún pad en caso que no lo reconozca pero todo es súper sencillo de hacer! La latencia tiene que ver con el DAW multipista que uses más no con la batería y el SSD, que igualmente es configurable. Tomaré en cuenta tu petición para próximos videos. Saludos!

Miguel González Hola Miguel, pues creo que los módulos eran los mismos, cambia solo la cantidad de pads y el hi hat, pero he estado mirando en thomann y ahora tienen la 750x y han cambiado el módulo. Parece que han mejorado pero no lo he usado, no te sabría decir. Saludos

Hi Raffaele, it depends on how high or low is set up the buffer size on your DAW. When playing you should keep it in 256 samples and the latency won’t be audible. Hope this helps! 🤘🏻

@@XXtreemeDrummer I have the buffer size set to 64 samples. I was told, that those Alesis modules have way more latency than Roland devices, BUT I'm quite fine with it. For the most human ears it becomes hearable at about 15 milliseconds. Alesis modules got something like < 8 ms, Roland < 3 ms then you have the MIDI output + some ms to play the samples. I think it's definitely below 15 ms and good playable! I am using Toontrack EZDrummer2 + Plogue Bidule (MIDI Mapping). And IMHO EZD2 sounds better ... but that's a matter of taste. The latency differences between DAW+plugin and stand alone app might be negligible. In the meantime, I got it last X-mas, for the kids ... my MPS-850 has grown: I added 5 cymbals, 1 Alesis/Millenium like tom pad, an ATV 13" snare pad, a Gear4Music sample pad, an old Roland FD-8 hi hat controller as (second hi hat) and 2 Audiofront eDrumIn modules (trigger2midi interfaces, awsome devices, great support and community). That is called: gear addicted!

Hay una versión gratis que trae 3 kits también si quieres probarlo antes de comprarlo. Para usarlo solo debes conectar tu batería a la computadora vía USB y ya está! Saludos

Hi Jim! You can use whatever DAW you like, it’ll work. For drum sounds my favorite is SSD but you can use EZdrummer or the one you prefer. You can load the song in one audio track and have your drums in a MIDI track and play both together.

Biso Hi, it’s easy, just go to your DAW preferences and set up the buffer size to 256samples or less, and there will be a latency (always will be) but, won’t be noticeable. Don’t forget once you finish playing and you want to edit and mix, put it back to 1024, that way your computer can manage easier all the plugins you are using. 🤘🏻

En mi caso tengo una Alesis Nitro y tiene 3 sonidos cerrado, semi abierto y abierto, pero quiero hacer upgrade a un kit que tenga control continuo en el hi hat, que a medida que se va abriendo produzca una sensación similar a la del hi hat real. Hola qué tal, casi siempre tienen dos, abierto o cerrado. Las articulaciones pueden ser tantas como tenga el módulo o el software que utilizas. Saludos

Te cuento, en mi Alesis nitro, tanto en el modulo como al usarla con el SSD5 siempre tengo 3 articulaciones, cerrado, semi abierto y abierto, lo que quiero saber realmente es si esta bateria en concreto (la MPS-850) tiene mas articulaciones al ser un hi hat mas realista, como las roland que traen el hi hat con base real y tienen como 5 articulaciones. ¿o esta solo tiene dos? Agradezco tus respuestas.

Hey man! If it’s correctly mapped shouldn’t be any problem. I use the mapping presets for the Roland TD30 and it works fine. You could map it manually as well on SSD software. Hope it helps you!

​@@euredyka00 I've figured it out after about 3 weeks of trial and error! It works perfectly if you use the "midi out" port, rather than the "usb midi" output from the module. So grab yourself a cheap "midi - usb" cable. No mapping required at all. (But do load kit conversion Roland TD20/30 as mentioned before)

Jim dov Hi Jim, this is a great budget kit, using it together with a good drum software like Slate Drums or Superior Drums you can get good sounding drums. It feels great playing it though!

Has probado EZDrummer con este kit? Toda mi vida he usado siempre este programa, pero no sé cuál será mejor. ¿Crees que merece más la pena SSD en vez de EZDrummer? Gracias por el video!

Hola Eduardo! No lo he probado pero se que funciona. Yo uso el SSD, es cuestión de gustos, a mi me parece mejor el SSD en muchas cosas y además es más económico! Saludos

j a Hola, pues lo único que necesitas es tener algún DAW (software de grabación como pro tools, Logic Pro o cualquiera de tu preferencia) ya que el plugin no funciona por si solo. Incluso si no tienes batería electrónica puedes utilizarlo con cualquier otro controlador midi o utilizar los grooves que vienen ya en el plugin. Espero haberte aclarado la duda, Saludos!

Is not the best quality in terms of durability, but if you want something to have at home to practice an record via MIDI with a software you will get pretty good results. To me is a good deal for the price and you can find any part in case you need to replace something in a future. I got a review video (in Spanish) but it might could give you an idea about the drum kit.

Mi recomendación es que envíes un correo a Thomann y te asegures de que pueden hacerte el envío y que costo tiene. Yo soy de Venezuela, pero me encuentro en Inglaterra y aquí pues el envío es gratis.

No puedo decir nada malo del SSD5. Suena muy bien y el precio es de risa. Pero el Superior drummer 3 esta grabado increíblemente bien y el sonido no está tan procesado como el del SD5, por lo que te da más margen de acción. Si quieres algo que suene nada más abrirlo y por un precio asequible, Ssd5 te lo da.
