Mark Slaughter, wrote this song about his girlfriend from Highschool who passed away. He said that when got back home from touring, he wanted to get a hold of her. And his friend called him up and told him that she passed away. And her funeral was the next day. So, he wrote this song in honor of her.

I heard she died in a plane crash. Which is why some of the video was filmed an a plane hanger and they showed a girl (which is supposed to represent her) in front of a plane. Also they show thee plane taking off and never landing. I heard that many years ago.

Absolutely heartbreaking at the time the song came out- we all were teens and has a significant other and the thought of losing them was sad, so we could relate to the song. Especially those of us who lost friends at the time this song was popular. I myself was giving birth to my first born and this was the last song I heard before he was born- so this has forever been my son's song & he's now 31! So I feel old, but this is a classic timeless song. Great honest reaction!

I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools men's choir and competed in All State Choir in 1981, I always loved his ballads.

The singer was asked about the origins of the Slaughter song “Fly To The Angels” to which he stated: “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. I went to her funeral and it inspired me to write a song about letting go.

True story....I went to a local bar back in mid 90's and there was a band i never heard of playing. I was at bar getting a beer n I heard the band playing a Slaughter song n was like damn...they do this good. When I got a look at the stage I was like holy fk...it is Mark Slaughter. He had throat surgery n before they committed to making a new cd n tour he wanted to see how his voice would sound n hold up playing live. Everytime they took a break he would grab a beer n just hang like one of the guys. Really cool dude. I seen them a few years earlier twice. Once they opened for Tesla n next time they opened for Poison with the Bulletboys Up All Night....banger

A brother of a friend of mine committed suicide around the time when this song came out. A bunch of us got together and hung out with him that night he found out and we must have played this song over 100 times for his brother. Later that night Stevie Ray Vaughan died after a concert we didn't go to because of my friend needing us in his time of grief and we played the song a bunch more. Every time I hear it it brings me back to that confusing night of grief. Great song for grief, nice reaction.

They had some great material. But they also lost their guitarist, Tim Kelly, on Feb 05, 1998 in Bagdad, AZ from a collision on the highway. Kelly, 34, was driving on State Route 96 when an 18-wheel tractor trailer jackknifed and collided with his vehicle. My really good friends wife passed away very young, we all knew it was coming, she had cancer, at her funeral he asked me to play and sing Angie ( also her name) by the Stones, alone, just me and a guitar... I wanted so bad to say no, but how could I? It took all the manhood, heart, power, whatever, to make it through, but I probably could've just cried all the way, everyone else was. I heard that this song was dedicated to Tim Kelly’s ( lead guitarist) mom who passed away from cancer. R.I.P. Tim Kelly 😢. Mark Slaughter was also in another band Vinnie Vincent Invasion
