Great video! I bet it would awesome to live near there. Really appreciate the natural sounds in wheeling videos. Cool Taco also, ive got the spacer lift too atm and its just what it is lol Similar to a covered wagon im sure 😆 Will go with something better in the future though. Glad you got the details on that 4runner too! That thing looked pretty dang smooth and impressive how it got through all that but that just shows the difference between a spacer lift and quiet a bit more pricey one.
@corycasarez77
@corycasarez77 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve successfully built my taco pretty well but honest I love to see your video rocking the spacers because so many people believe you have to have to have loads of money out into a truck to go on trails. (Yes a descent suspension helps with clunking haha). I have been debating selling my newer Toytec rear shocks and putting the extended length Bilstein ones on for the rear. I believe they extend to 27 inches, just a little something to look into if you wanted to, I believe they are made for 3-4 inch lifts in the rear. Cheers buddy.
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 4 жыл бұрын
Food for thought, I appreciate you mentioning the shocks. That’s one of my favorite things that we try and accomplish and praise on this channel. It doesn’t matter what you have as long as you’re out there having fun. So whenever anyone talks down to what people are doing or their rigs just because it’s budget based we try and go out and prove them wrong. Of course there’s better options but that doesn’t make anyone better than anyone else.

Did this trail in the same direction later that same fall in a stock 1st gen Dodge w250. You can pretty much cruise this trail in 2wd. The only place it gets a bit technical is going in and out of the gulch. There was a 4 runner that had some trouble climbing up out of the gulch but eventually made it. I took the easiest line with the fewest rocks but loose ground and went slow and made it without too much drama and some significant slippage.

Good vid of that trail, but invest in a full skid plate ( you don't want to bust an oil pan, you'll be dead in the water quicker than you would expect), and move your spare tire into the bed. Every bit of weight off any end of a vehicle adds force and added weight to those sides. Bilstein shocks work great on the Tacos.
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that but after testing variations out for years I prefer the hitch mount or rear tire carrier. Easy to access when you lose a bead or blow a tire on the trail and keeps the bed accessible. Agreed on the upgraded skid plate but I’ll get rid of this truck before then most likely. After comparing and testing multiple rigs this one is closer to the bottom of the list. Also agreed on bilsteins but I prefer fox. Better ride than the bilsteins on the truck now.

Ya. I’m guessing it was the rear tire mount. Not sure how you could distinguish that loud AF POS creaking back there and rear shocks slightly extended. In fact, all the comments about the rear shock noise should probably be ignored until that PoS tire mount is taken off and then tested again. My OR has a 1.5” rear spacer and it doesn’t sound like that.

@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 4 жыл бұрын
Don’t get the rear hitch spare? I relocated it because I’ve been in the situation too many times where I lost a tire on the trail and getting to the spare is a pain in the ass. Shifting it to an accessible point makes it so much easier. That’s why a lot of Offroad vehicles put it on the back. The fold down capability helps me keep my bed empty and accessible. Was that what you meant by empty bed? Agreed though. Just needs a few welds or even quicker I’m just going to add a strap that runs through it and the bed mounting points and it will solve it all super quick.
