In the midst of widespread poverty, fueled by economic inequality and rampant corruption, a new form of slavery - bridal slavery - has flourished in India. Women and young girls are sold for as little as $120 to men who often abuse them.

True. The problem is some nationalistic Indians only talk about one side. I have friends from India and when you listen to them talk, you would of thought India is the greatest country in the world. Only talking about all the development and how good life in India if you have money. While this is true, they would never acknowledge the fact that India also has extreme poverty, inequality, and social injustice. Its amazing how people can sometimes be so blind and only see what they want to see

He'll allow these women to go through such unimaginable suffering. Why when the smallest thing happens you'll thank god? You were a second slower pulling out your driveway so you missed that truck flying by. You know the sort of examples I mean, surgery goes well THANK GOD! surgery goes bad, "well ya know god has a plan for everyone" how can you sit there and allow your imagination to get the better of you because it makes you feel good. Makes you feel more important thinking you're involved in some sort of divine plan. If kids are born with birth defects they're told to be grateful to God for giving them life. Well how bout life without without that pain? Can you imagine how these women must feel? Calling out EVERY SINGLE DAY for god to save them. If he cant answer them, that's no god of mine. No it's NOT. No marriage in Islam is valid without the consent of the woman. A Muslim may NOT take a woman into marriage without her consent. What some so called Muslims do and what is permissible in Islam are 2 very very different things.

Jordan Evans u must be joking right ? America and Europe was built on slavery .. Australia New Zealand America South America u name it .. Europeans took slaves and built there wealth on slaves sweat and blood .. The Greeks did the same and so did the Romans ... Most of the slaves in Islam were European since they were always attacking Muslim countries so they were captured during battle and turned into slaves .. Don't invade Muslim lands and u won't b taken as a slave .. It's quite simple ..

okay fair enough. Then how do you explain the prevalence of such practices in majority muslim communities? Slavery is exceedingly rare in Christian communities around the world. Not so in majority muslim communities. Please I'd like to hear a reasonable explanation.

Answer: Because they are "Patriarchal", and it's not just in religions that these things are happening...it's all over this planet! Woman (the second human) was a PRECIOUS GIFT from our Creator to man (the first human); but man was a gift to no one...maybe he's jealous just like Cane (the first born) was jealous of Able (the second born)! This is a man's world, and look what men have done to it! Frankly, if things were reversed (i.e. men having to stay at home...controlled they way they control women) then the world would be a much better place. Women are the nurturers, care givers, more loving half of our species having tender affection. When food is given to men, they sell it for drugs or alcohol; when food is given to the women, everyone eats! A true Matriarchal world would end famines, wars, child brides, slavery, female circumcision, gang violence, lack of health care, homelessness; and so much more! Women are the center of the family, the one's who bring culture and grace to society, the ones's who teach etiquette; women are valuable beyond measure. Like Jimi Hendrix sang, "This is a man's world, but it would be noting, nothing without a woman or a little girl." WOMEN ARE, AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN, THE GLUE THAT HOLDS IT ALL TOGETHER! Women are closer to the source (Our Creator) because be bring forth and sustain life. This MAN'S WORLD needs to start recognizing and showing some respect and gratitude for the Precious Gift of women!

Having only seen the first 30 seconds, the first comment I have to make is that I'm dissappointed that this Arab channel solely mentions the Western slave trade that lasted 300 years, ignoring the Arab slave trade of 20 million Africans (but also many Asians and Europeans) for well over 1000 years, deep into the 20th century. The Ottomans had African slave markets until the formation of Turkey in 1918, and Saudi Arabia until the 1950's(!) when they gave it up under international pressure.

Today is Saturday, May 16, 2020, This is my first time watching a video of this type of headline and the highlights it provides are extremely disturbing. I can’t even imagine what it would be to be taken as a slave to work under horrible conditions and needless to say to be sexually abused and used by someone you don’t love. My heart goes out to them. I feel a great impotence and not able to assist to freedom 🤦🏻‍♀️☹️🥺
