If I'm not mistaken, this was the last song of the set. One thing I've always seen from Cornell, from the early days to even now, 2013, he performs the hardest songs when I think he shouldn't. Not only that, he performs it well. Not only that, he's already performed many other very difficult songs beforehand. Not only that, his catalog of songs is pretty much impossible to perform by any other human being. I think I've said enough.

Well if you put the hardest songs at the end you don't have to worry about blowing out your voice early in the set

u now have the big gay he also puts his all into songs that are pretty intensive in earlier parts of the set ( if i’m not mistaken, they were also doing 2 hour sets )

I like how you said his catalogue is pretty much impossible for any other human being. Obviously there are really good singers that can do it, but I’m a pretty decent singer, and can sing along to most of my favorite bands and hit all the notes, but I don’t know if it’s his range or the rasp he puts in his voice, but I just cannot sing most Audioslave and Soundgarden songs, with some exceptions for the easier ones of course. I was trying to sing along to the first Audioslave album last night and basically just gave up a few songs in and let my voice rest.

@@leons.kennedy1571 Hey! Consider my original comment here a bit biased lol. I was definitely wrong. It was damn near 10 years ago, woah! Indeed, now I'm sure there are many who can sing his songs. I myself have put in the practice and can sing pretty much all of SG/TOD/AS songs. Problem is, I'm a tenor. Hitting the notes isn't necessarily too much of a problem, it's that my voice is significantly lighter. As you stated, I think the best part of Chris' voice is the distortion and timbre he can create with it. His tone on songs like Right Turn or Burden in My Hand is just awesome, but when I try to sing the way Chris does, it sounds too tinny and thin. I just end up singing them straight, but dammit if I didn't wish I could sound like Chris.

The first time I saw them was in 1996 and they were closing with this already back then,it was usually this and Jesus Christ Pose. He would also sing pats of other songs in the middle section, like he did that final night

I always found it strange that when it came to performing live, Chris could absolutely floor the song Beyond the Wheel but whenever he did Slaves and Bulldozers he never quite matched the studio version. Then I found this version, fuck me, he nailed it.

Idk man, beyond the wheel is really either fully lower range or fully head voice for Chris; Slaves and Bulldozers rides along his vocal break for such a large portion of the song- it is incredible beyond words that he was able to get it so spot on even this once.

I think it's because Chris's technique requires lots of warming up, and when he is warmed up, he's fantastic. So by the end of a set, his voice is at it's peak and he's able to perform very very well.

This is a badass song that showcases the individual talent of each member. Ben almost pulling the bass strings off. Kim manipulating the guitar & blowing on the strings, Matt changing up the pace through out the song & beating the shit out of those drums, Chris voice goes from bluesy lows to screaming high....love it! If I had to pick a fave Soundgarden song, Slaves & Bulldozers might be the one. But I really can’t pick a fave.

The 90s was a great fucking time to be going to shows and getting into heavy music. I saw Soundgarden play at the Warfield in San Francisco in late '91 and they simply tore it up. Just an incredible hard rock performance. Then I saw them on the '92 Lollapalooza tour. Also good. But this band was best experienced in smaller club venues (with crowds of one or two thousand maniacs). I'll never forget that Warfield show when they were touring Badmotorfinger. This video of Slaves and Bulldozers takes me right back. Chris Cornell RIP.

@@plejer1067The Pearl Jam drummer debate always makes me laugh. Matt Cameron's their best drummer and it isn't because of his ability - it's because he's able to stay in the band and has obviously connected with the band. If you're ever been in a band you'll get what I mean. Matt Cameron's Soundgarden drumming is better any day of the week. BUT... Matt Cameron serves the band the best. Even if the style of drumming didn't fit, PJ couldn't have landed a better drummer.

Badmotorfinger is in my opinion Soundgarden's best album. I mean sonically, lyrically and vocally it hits the bullseye every time. The vocal ferocity is delivered with such unflinching confidence and riffs could collapse a 20 storey building. I don't know any other time that Cornell has sounded as good. If I could write just one song as good as any on the album I'd die a happy man and the bastards wrote 12 of them haha. Definately one of the greatest albums of all time.

Every word I said is what I mean Every word I said is what I mean Everything I gave is what I need Virgin eyes and dirty looks On what I have and why I took Counting all the hands I shook Now I know why you've been shaking Now I know why you've been shaking Now I know why you've been shaking Now I know why you've been shaking So bleed your heart out There's no more rides for free Bleed your heart out I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me Everything I've held is what I've freed Everything I've held is what I've freed Everything I've shown is what I feel Buying lies and stealing jokes And laughing every time I choke Biding all the time you took Now I know why you've been taken Now I know why you've been taken Now I know why you've been taken Now I know why you've been taken So bleed your heart out There's no more rides for free, yeah Bleed your heart out I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me What's in it for, what's in it for Every word I said is what I mean Everything I gave is what I need Everything I've held is what I've freed Everything I've shown is what I feel Virgin eyes and dirty looks On what I have and why I took Counting all the hands I shook Now I know why you've been shaking Buying lies and stealing jokes And laughing every time I choke Biding all the time you took Now I know why you've been taken

He truly pushed the limits of vocal self expression. I'm a very strong singer and this is truly one of the most challenging songs one could ever attempt to sing. He was amazing♡ "Jesus was his friend"...he'll be ok up there RIP

Oh, and also, I love the I'm Eighteen part. "I like it, love it, like it, love it." Chris wrote two songs for Alice Cooper, and did backing vocals on one. My two favorite bands, Alice then Soundgarden.

Lol, usually when “Alice” is mentioned alongside Soundgarden, it’s Alice In Chains

This defines "heavy." Chris Cornell at the height of his powers. Listen: "Jesus, is my friend." Unbelievable vocals.

Certain things you remember…I remember hearing outshined on the radio for the first time and was blown away. Went down to University Records in Lubbock Texas and bought the CD and hearing rusty cage then outshined and then slaves and bulldozers in a row. Mind riot, holy water, room 1000 years wide. Good lord what an album

I saw these guys in a club in Cleveland in '91. Absolutely sick. It's hard to find anything like this anymore.

i love how from about 7:20 to about 8:05 the music is fading in and out, and it goes extra silent at 8:02 for a second, perfecting chris's scream

It never ceases to amaze me. How does this video only have 64,000 views and at the same time some crap from the Jonas brothers will have 5 million?
