it was heartening to hear him make his statement on Ditchkens, et al., they are not materialist enough. it really drives me crazy to hear them speak of religion as this force in the world somehow existing outside of humanity driving all religionists to terrible deeds. when in fact the very problem is that human beings drive each other and themselves to these deeds. you don't need a religion to do this, humanity is quite adept at destroying itself and driving itself into acts of unspeakable horror. when these kinds of actions are laid at the feet of religion (or any particular epistemological source) human action and moral choice are not strengthened but taken away.

aspektx not even to mention that religion itself is created by human, which means it must be that the flaws and dangers of religion were already a part of human nature, articulated itself in the form of a religious system.

absolutely. This has always been the way between Holland and Belgium. I love that ambiguity between countries. It's playful. You know it's not true, even as you tell the joke. Why do dutch spend their time inside their fridge ? to make sure the light is out.. you know it's not true, but you know they also make jokes about you.. lovely

If you appreciate Zizek and jokes, you should love Dylan Moran's comedy. I sometimes wonder if Moran is informed by Zizek, because in interviews he even says some of the same things, e.g. that part of his comedy act is to make jokes about as many nationalities as possible (of course including his own).
