This game kinda blew me away. The story was super unique and engaging the entire time. All of the voices and versions of the princess felt really well written. The art style and sparse use of color really helped set the atmosphere. This was great, thank you for playing it for us!

after my first time seeing somone play the game yesterday, I decided to have chat gpt create a roleplay scenario about a strong blushing knight who rescues a kind giant princess. but the ai doesn’t really know how to create conflict once we escaped together. the princess just goes along with what I, the knight, tell her to do unless I give strong implications that she might do otherwise. and there’s no real obstacles along the journey to the nearest village unless I tell the A.I. that there is. The princess learned to start teasing and flirting with the knight but thats about all my intrigue with the scenario THAT I CREATED. Though when I copy and paste it into a google doc its about 57 pages long. This game on the otherhand knows how to pull your heartstrings, make you uncomfortable, have you question your choices and the world around you, it pushes back against you. And somehow its feels open ended than the fucking ai, despite being restricted to a simple two floor cabin.

i swear, until the end she couldnt believe what the narator said even after the miror broke part and still asking "it is true" when the narator clearly dont lie, (well we dont have to agree with him though but he did not lie), i'm sure if you switch the voice and design of the narator and "her" all Fauna choice would be oposite XD but it was fun to see a very different playtrhough than mine though

It's another episode of "Kirin convinces me to purchase yet another game" This was wonderful; the music, the branching timetravelling story, and the voices were really interesting. Favourite has to be the Stubborn for snapping back at the narrator in the last ending you got Loved the way you explore the types of games and give your thoughts on the story as you're going through, makes it really engaging man

1:54:24 This genuinely has to be one of the most disturbing scenes in the game. She's trying to get out and she's tormenting you with probabilities of what could happen. It also might reflect some of the life events that the narrator went through.

*Story interpretation* This is a multiverse where all possibilities exist at all times and are always changing. All the best and all the worst and everything inbetween, changing for the better and for the worse. The narrator's universe was one changing for the very worst. Some kind of extinction event apocalypse or just the universe dying of old age. His world is ending. Everyone will die. In order to stop that he tries to alter the way the multiverse works. Destroy change itself and his world and everybody in it will be saved. In order to do so he creates a god that captures the concept of change. Now that god must die to eliminate it. He rips the god in 2 creating another god, capable of killing the god of change and he also builds the construct trapping them both. To make this all work he also has to kill himself, but he puts a fragment of himself into the construct to make sure his job is completed and the god of change, the princess, is slain. *What will be the outcome if the narrator's plan plays out?* Change stops. Meaning any world/universe like his that is about to change for the worse will benefit, however any world that is changing for the better gets screwed out of it. With all possibilities already existing somewhere that makes it an exactly neutral action in an overall sense. Everything still exists at all times. Just like before. All progress has already been made somewhere and then also stays there. All regress aswell. All good things are happening somewhere, so do all bad things. Now forever. They stop moving around. Any world that was screwed will now forever be screwed, but any world that does great will do so forever now. The only non-neutral difference between the 2 states of the multiverse is that 1 requires the god of change/princess to die. There's also the matter of the narrator changing the nature of the universes on his own. Big decision to make over everbody's head. However from his perspective it is also understandable because his world is currently getting the worst deal. It's kind of a desparate act of collective self-defense on a universal scale, done by 1 person. *Is the narrator evil?* I would say no. In fact just for his own world he's quite the hero, martyring himself to save everybody in his world. Same for any other world he accidentally saves or freezes in a good state like that. He just also takes those 2 questionable actions in that act of self-defense. And for every world that would change for the better or is currently awful he's a monster for freezing them in that state. Although neither the benefitting or disadvantaged worlds would ever know that, because it would all be in a future that now just doesn't happen.

The beginning of the game sort of reminds me of this philosophical argument called "Pascal's wager." Believing that the world will end if the princess is set free presents you with three possible outcomes. 1. The world is saved if you slay her. 2. The world will end if you free her. 3. Nothing will happen if either choices are made due to the world ending isn't actually going to happen. However, not believing that the world will end presents you with a similar but more disadvantageous outcomes. 1. Nothing happens if you slay her and you just killed a person in cold blood. 2. The world ends if you free her. 3. Nothing happens if you free her. The context of not really knowing whether the world ending is true or not is quite simply interesting. If you think on it, the best choice is just to simply kill her as the advantage of the world possibly not ending FAR outweighs the disadvantages of not doing so. It's a harsh choice for sure, but definitely an interesting one.

A visual novel with quite simplistic, monochromatic art style and only two voice actors... weighing TEN freaking GB. And you know what? It's worth every single byte. It truly looks like a passion project that made it all the way to the end. The voice acting quality and the sheer amount of variations is simply phenomenal. Also, kudos to Fauna for actually going through (almost) all of it (the best endings at least, imo) in just one go. That was pretty damn impressive

I've been following this game on and off for the years of its development and I'm still blown away by the final product. Absolute rollercoaster of a game. Even the very title is a twist on concepts we're used to can't prepare you for the half of it. Very glad I just kinda stumbled upon it all that time ago and just kinda stumbled upon Fauna happening to play it too.

I was just here to watch my oshi do whatever. I wasn't expecting to witness such a beautiful and deep game. The lore and symbolism is a bit everywhere on this one, but at the most basic level I kinda got the feeling that the God ending was becoming enlightened in an Eastern religion/ Buddhism way, but the "love" ending was rejecting enlightenment to keep experiencing earthly pleasures such as love. Before the endings I had in mind that the narrator was a mind, normal or ill, that the hero was a basic sense self preservation, and that every "mood" was a heuristic (mental shortcut that helps human brains with processing information so people can live more efficient lives). Your brain says "we need to do thing". the hero, self preservation says "let's be reasonable about this." and after a situation happens, you receive a heuristic to process the info in the situation that happened. The knife could represent the fight or flight response, but I kinda thought it represented pessimism and optimism more generally. I kinda thought each princess was an individual romance, and that you approached each one with pessimism, optimism, and various heuristics from previous experiences. then I also thought the thing that was taking the princesses could have been yourself, processing each relationship after its over, but then there was real lore being dropped lol so idk. thanks for introducing me to this though! fascinating

The different voices really did help tell the story, from both you and the Princess. The disembodied voices had a lot of personality that made them real entertaining to listen to, and I guess they were pretty much like co-commentators to Fauna who was sharing her own thoughts on the stuff that was happening. I liked that she just dove right into the story and followed her own preferences for how she wanted things to go. Really embraced the spirit of the role the player’s supposed to have in the story as the main “voice”.

Going into her heart with the Hero at the end always takes you to the first encounter with her. Thing is, if you immediately decide to not go to the cabin, your first encounter with her will be in Chapter 2 when you meet her as the Stranger--a version of her that is all of them at once. In a lot of ways, she is the Shifting Mound. When you return to this beginning at the end, it's a bit different. First of all, the Contrarian is there too and you finally get the opportunity to throw the dagger out the window, like he always asks you to do. The Princess that you meet in the basement is still basically an amalgamation of all she could be at the same time. She is basically the Shifting Mound, but on a less divine level and she compliments you for your ability to go off script when she realizes you yeeted the dagger. and then you leave. But in this ending, you leave with ALL of her.

This game started silly (in a good way), and spooky. Then I got intrigued, trying to figure out what was going on and what everything meant. Then by the end I ended up crying a lot, the game just really spoke to me I suppose. It reminded me a lot of writing a character, like from the perspective an an author. Where the character you make (like the princess), is subjected to a bunch of things that may or may not ever stick. They may lose a parent, or never have parents at all. Win in the end, or lose everything, and as the writer you feel a certain sadness for what happens to them. I'm glad you got a good ending, it was very sweet and I am happy that the 2 protagonists got to be together. I'd feel sorry for the Narrator, but I feel like he would be happy to know his creation found peace.

You actually figured out some of the framework of what's going on pretty early and you're right. How you perceive each other change the environment and the Princess herself, all while the MC only unravels and gets more voices. She is change and you are stability. Altho, I gotta say that chat who said that bringing the knife in The Witch's route to get one of the most emotional routes in the game isn't lying. You'll get another form of her in Ch. 2 too. There's also another Princess that got locked due to stubbornly refusing to go to the cabin in the second chapter. There's also an evolution to her form if you decided to continue to the cabin instead. You seem keen on not stabbing her no matter what, I noticed. It makes me wonder if not picking up the knife in your very first "round" affects the Princess in the "leave as not-gods ending". I forgot to mention that Adversary loves fighting and is happy with it like a tango for survival. Neither of you really wins or loses. Sometimes, pacifism isn't the answer, but it still led you to another beginning even if you chose otherwise.

Thank you for the stream Fauna, this game was amazing! So many cute princesses, even if they were a little scary sometimes. I love stories that have this kind of narrator and setting, they're always really fun to go through, and I'm glad you got the princess in the end! That will always be the best ending for me.

This game was really good. I really want to see how many branching paths it has though and what the devs had to do to manage it. It looks like it'd be insane

Didn't really have any expectations going into to this, but that was a really great game! I'm a sucker for these type of meta thought-provoking type games, so this really hit for me. Really glad you decided to play this! Thanks for the stream, Fauna!

The fun part is seeing what people do the first time. What’s their initial reaction to the decisions in front of them?

I've said it in the stream, but this game is just so amazing. Expectation exceeded in every way possible. Not just horror, drama or love story. It's actually deep and I think can be interpreted in many ways too. Didn't finish the stream because of time, but knowing Fauna she's gonna keep trying until she gets the true ending or the one she's satisfied with. I'm not disappointed.

Thanks for the awesome time Any game I come across with such amazing writing like this, I some day hope to see you play. They've consistently been among my favourite streams you do. Hearing you get invested in the story and act it all out is a blessing

Thanks for playing this game. I knew in the first 5 mins that I had to stop watching and play it myself first. I'm so glad I did. Somehow everything lined up perfectly. My first playthrough started with The Wraith and ended with The Thorn (smitten). It was just beautiful. But now I want to get the other endings so I still cant watch this vod lol

thankyou for the stream Fauna! I thought this was a love story at first but as I watch your stream it became true that love prevails, there are so much lore and interesting concepts I would have missed out if it wasn't for you.

Ah well, there is an alternate version of the two of you leaving the cabin together, one where she is a bit more timid but, in my opinion, infinitely cuter

You can also leave with the princess from the stranger route if you do it first before the others. She looks pretty cute as well compared to the one you encounter in the stranger route.

pretty good, game so variable, the VAs cooked with their voice ranges sad she didn't see some endings, so many never seen is impressive lol the broken one, the smitten, the stubborn top tier just for their scenarios
She wants to be a cryptid so bad
