Now I feel bad. ;p either way, game looks good, I like the pc version and might get this one but the price seems steep though I understand why: 700+ cards and other things lol. What do you think? Is it worth the price?

Hi Alex!! The first encounter should use the "1st Encounter" deck. There should be 4 in there somewhere. They will make your first fight less brutal. Great playthrough :)

I don't remember a rule like that, but you also played an early version of it that may not have had 1st Encounters yet.

@@BoardGameCo in the game the first 3 combats are taken from "the easy pool" because at that point you still have the starter deck. Doesn't matter how good you are with the starter deck you can get bad draws and loose a ton on hp

Just to give you the heads up, the large slime in the boss battle (that spawned after you killed the main boss) had a 10 with a gold square around it and the 2 had a gold square around it. I assume this means that it would start with 12 health not 9.

Looks like they changed the official Defrag to always be 3 energy even when upgraded. They made the standard ethereal and the upgrade non-ethereal. 3 energy hurts!

Which version are you playing with? I can not decide if I should back the standard option or go with the deluxe option. Usually dont use playmats at all, not sure if it is worth it. However I would like to have the metal coins.... not an easy decesion this.

I worry that the digital version of this game is a little too fast-paced for quite so faithful a board game implementation. For instance, I can't see myself moving my energy block back and forth each turn. And shuffling your deck so much seems like it could get tiresome.

Agreed. Originally, the novelty of the board game will entice people, but the fiddly nature of cube movement, shiv/strength/weakness tokens, (significant) shuffling, etc. will be skipped. Then people will start to look at their hands and say - yeah I beat this minion - and not even play out the round. Corners will continue to be cut until players realize the video game is just ideal for this type of game. It’s saving grace is multiplayer, but that better bring a lot for players to take such a big step backwards.

Can you PvP with Spire champions? Love the idea of championing each other’s decks and seeing how builds do against each other. Something I think is missing from the video game. How much relic hoarding is there? I find always buying and pathing for relics can make for some well tuned decks with lots of permanent buffs in play, overpowering them significantly. Got this game on the PS4 and just revisited it. Five battles before the act 3 boss in my best run ever, I paused and accidentally quit out!!! So, the campaign ends when 3 big RPGs that I’m watching also end. Monty Python, Cowboy Bebop and Stokerverse. And I just backed Paranoia. The most fun and memorable RPG I’ve ever played, where everyone is a hidden traitor. However, I also backed Old Gods of Appalachia RPG, based on an awesome horror anthology series podcast. Well worth checking out. Household, a fairies, sprites and other little people RPG ported and later abandoned by CMON. Brindlewood Bay, I wouldn’t have noticed if not for Room&Board and Wicked Ones… that you randomly mentioned once with Shelfclutter. Thanks for the play Alex.

Not exactly the same as PvP, but have you tried the downfall mod yet? It lets you play as the monster bosses pitted against the heroes. It’s really fun and could kinda scratch that itch

@@paulthompson7361 Unlike the video game, where at half the slimes health you split in two, this card says "On death, summon acid slime and spike slime at the start of next turn" Unless inside the rulebook it states something otherwise that i am not familiar with.

For single player? Absolutely. But I watched a co-op play on another channel and it looked really, really fun. Lot of dialogue, planning, trading, and the wins seemed really satisfying. Exactly what you want in a co-op game.

It is alot but to be fair look at everything it comes with. Like 800 cards, many of which are double sided with art sleeves (upgrades)... Mats, boards, chips, markers, figures etc not to mention all of the thought and planning to distill and rework the game down to tabletop and multiplayer. When you really consider it, I don't think it's that crazy.

@@LayerZeroDesign I can see that it comes with a lot of cards and sleeves are always nice to have from the get-go, but 100 dollars + VAT + shipping is still insane! The four figures in this game are completely cosmetic, they serve no real function and add to the cost for no real reason. I mean you could get the base box for Nemesis for well under a 100 from KS, I think it was 80 and included VAT, and that comes with a lot of miniatures and very detailed plastic tokens, just as an example. There is no way the cost should be this high for a card game where you don't even get any extra costs for artwork as it's nearly all recycled from the video game. I did back it, as I do love the video game and think it will be fun to play with friends, but the price is FAR above the mean price for similar board games out there, especially with one that was basically guaranteed to be backed fully from the get-go as it does already has a loyal audience.
