Excellent interview. Jeff Hanneman wrote most of Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits, nearly all of Reign in Blood, nearly all of South of Heaven, most of Seasons in the Abyss. Most of Slayer live staple are Hanneman songs (Die By the Sword, Angel of Death, Raining Blood, Dead Skin Mast, War Ensemble, Seasons in the Abyss, South of Heaven, Disciple, ) RIP Jeff, legend.

I'm gonna miss Hanneman and the music he created. It's tough to watch this and accept him passing on. At least we had many years with some great music they created. King could only be 25% of slayer no matter what direction he takes things....it took the original 4 musicians to get to that level of intensity. Lombardo was one of the few trash drummers I could get into since he had groove or feel. Araya-great singer/frontman too. War Ensemble, Angel of Death, South of Heaven, etc, etc, etc

@mrc515 In terms of technique, Kerry King hands down. He has possibly the smoothest picking technique I've ever seen. Jeff writes a lot more material though, and is a better composer.

Jeff plays with his arm, I've never seen this dude moves his wrist, it's still insane how with that technique he's still able to solo very fast and most of the times very precisely.

Jeff began to really plays with his arms around 1991. Just look how he had a much better guitar picking between 86 and 90. His palm muting was excellent at that time. He even had a great and clean shredding in his solos live. Just watch Silent Scream live at Hammersmith odeon in 1988. It was great!

You know, I never liked the black album that much, and loathed load and reload for a long time. After I got into blues load and reload were pretty cool to me, and garage inc was great. However, the old days with cliff.....man NOBODY could touch em! Justice was great too. Just watch an old vid and a new one back to back, and it's clear as day.
