@grthym21 They weren't assholes if that's what you mean, they had an schedule of shows to do and they hire Gary Holt because they already had a friendship with Exodus and stuff. Jeff Hanneman was loved by all of the members and even with his whole arm fucked up, he managed to go on stage one last time. That's awesome, but what you wanted to happen? The band just stopping? Sadly they had to continue, they didn't know he would die 2 years later. Even Tom said in a interview back in 2012 that Jeff was getting better, but sadly a year after he died.

Out of the "Big 4", Slayer stood out. Arguably, they are the best of the crop. Slayer shredded Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth to pieces. Unrelentless, they stayed the brand of heavy. As a band, they stood tall and proud atop all their peers. Modest and humble, eccentric and crazy. Slayer is the best band of our generation.
@blender1188 Жыл бұрын
First: they are not humble at all. Second: they were never the best of the crop. These fuckers made one decent album: show no mercy.

dkyelak Ah the "cosmic thing" record of 1989. yes, good songs there, also "channel z" and "deadbeat club" i like on that. but they didn't have that weird rocking sound anymore. their original guitarist ricky wilson was responsible for it, but he had died of aids by then. fred shneider has some solo shit i like, that has like a punk rock sound.

You know, I love Slayer, but I'm not a mega fan. I have never seen an interview with Jeff. I didn't know he had done any. I have always been under the impression that he was anti-social. But he comes across as major cool here.
@EbenezarGold8 жыл бұрын
+taergehtsiram I think he was more reclusive, than anti-social. maybe a little anti-social in certain situations, but yeah, if he liked you, it seems that he was pretty chill and cool to hang with. I don't think he likes to talk about himself, which is highly unusual in the rock n roll world. He wrote the map for thrash and lots of darker metal for the next 40 years, blending punk with fast metal.
@Antarath7 жыл бұрын
Never answered phone calls. Kerry said he was always a recluse, and even more after the illnesses struck him. If he didn't like you, he wouldn't hang with you. He would sit in the tourbus and drink beer and play music on his iPad until everyone was gone, then he would show up. Robb Flynn said he would get rowdy after a certain amounts of beer, but he seemed annoyed at the people around him.
@danglenzig6 жыл бұрын
He was very shy about talking to media after what i read from 2 books on Slayer. Hes interest in the band was making music. And after that he only wanna stay home. Drinking beer with friends. I am forever tied to this band because I carved the word slayer into my arm when I was 15 with a razor blade and it scarred.. I did like some of the songs, the 1st song I heard was Seasons in the abyss on headbangers ball followed by buying Undisputed Attitude but I moved away from that kind of music (Pantera, Obituary, Slayer, Machine Head, Carcass, Gwar among many others) by the age of 20 but pop back every once in a while due to my still visible reminder of the band on my arm.
