Thanks a lot dude! The answer to that is usually anywhere from 2 to 5 times in a row before I get it good enough. Lotta studying before I even sit behind the kit - once I have a good handle on it I play it for a half-hour and choose the best one.

@@THEDC777 I've said it to someone else on KZbin...I think part of the reason why Dave can play things no one else would even dream of trying is because of his Cuban heritage. The complex polyrhythms of Afro Cuban ritual drum music are similar in some respects. Perhaps it is in Dave's blood, like a collective unconscious thing?

Ok, I’ve been drumming for about 35 years or so…play a lot of metal. Slayer is one of my faves to play, and I have even been in a couple mildly successful Slayer tribute bands.
