Dave you’ve come a long way from the running hook sets on the bank to pulling one in from the seat of your boat.

Dave, try putting a big enough bead above your swivel/leader to keep your board above it. It will prevent your boards from running on down to the fish. Keeps from beating up your boards and fish, and also keeps the fish from using the boards as leverage to pull the hook……like the flathead. Try it, if you dont like it, take them off. Bet you like it……

Thanks for the video! Always look forward to them. My favorite channel. Most the time I catch fresh bait but there are some times when I don't get a chance or its hard to get. I have soaked chicken breast in vanilla extract overnight and that seems to work when I'm on the fish.

Terrible rainy forecast. I bought a net off Facebook Marketplace ✅ Had a short break in the weather. Went fishing for bait. 6 Bluegills kept. 5 dinks I can fish whole & 1 keeper size I can use for cut bait that swallowed the hook.✅ GF had a river monster on a crawler. Couldn't get it to surface. I think it might have been a dagblasted turtle, but it could have been a Catfish, Pike, Walleye, Buffalo, or Carp. Didn't fight like a Carp. Argh! Wish I could have seen it. It sure didn't want to surface. I fished with a live Bluegill, but didn't get any bites before the Tornado warning siren went off.

Hey Catfish Dave. Guy online told me to watch what I wish for if I want to target Flatheads. He warned me not to fish a stretch of river where he has caught most of his 40+ Lbers. He tries to avoid Flatheads. He said they pull his 19 ft boat around. Another guy told me about the spot as well. They call it Catfish Alley. Let me know if you want to take a vacation to Michigan. I read about a guy ice fishing throwing back the state record Flathead without registering it.
