Okay people. Last month I had a rod &reel pulled off my dock. Yesterday while fishing I thought I was hung up. As I tried to break it off it started coming in. I pulled and pulled until it was at the dock. It was my rod and reel . Took it home and disassemble the reel. Cleaned and oiled it up. Wiped down the rod and sprayed it with silicone. People it was a early Christmas present 🎁. 85 dollar rod and a 160 dollar reel . I'm happy as can be rite now

You have got to have the slowest retrieve when you have a fish on the line that I have ever seen. I guess that is by design. You are very patient. I have only been fishing for stocked channel catfish for a year and only have shore access. Fish have been few and far between and i only seem to pull in one out of every three hits and never more than one a day. You seem to have very consistent results. Enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for sharing. Where do you get your dragging weights and how much do they weigh. I never see them online as long as yours appear to be.

Way back in the day it was considered polite to slow the boat when passing others who were fishing or stopped for some other reason. Nowadays most peeps are just rude and obnoxious. I rarely do boat fishing during the day and not on weekends or holidays just because of that. Fishing is decompression time to get away from the stupids....

Purpose of the rubber hose and what looks like a bass lure?

It is a sinker with weight on the bottom half and floatation on the upper half designed to be dragged across the bottom with minimal hang ups. The bass lure is being used to keep bait off bottom and also has a rattle in it for some noise attraction. If your hook is dragging the bottom it will hang up. Suspending the bait also makes it more noticable to the fish. If I'm not using the bass lure I at least have a 3 inch peg float on the hook end for floatation

The boards carry the bait to the side of the boat. In shallow water or clear water the boat can spook fish

To add... From the kayak, I often catch stripers while baits are just hanging in the water when I am reeling in a larger fish. I also turn off my sonar while anchored... It is noisy to a fish... Even my bait pump makes noise. The fish really seem to be affected by it... Especially in shallower water. Thanks for bringing this up...
