The minster asked king to give him a single grain then double it every time, as many time there are squares in a chessboard,i.e. 64. The king laughed , thinking that it's no big deal but when he began to fulfill the request of his minister slowly he began realising what he did promise was a mistake,he used all the grains of his kingdom still can't fill in the number of grains upto 2^64.

That penny thing mentioned. Multiple by itself, makes a king lose his kingdom. Only different was that instead of 30 days the guy chose chessboard which got 64 boxes and pieces of rice. It goes like 2 pieces of rice in 1st box and then Multiple by itself every next box. So it's goes as 2, 4, 16, 256.......and so on upto 64 boxes. And king lost everything to a priest.
