I still think a blind tasting of the same whiskey that’s been fresh cracked, open for a week, open for 6 months and opened for a year would be really, really interesting.

@mattschmitt99245 ай бұрын
I recently did similar to this at my house. I used regular larceny. I thought I knew the results going in, but was shocked how similar they were. I had a fresh bottle, one that had been open for about a month and had 2/3 left and a 4 or so month bottle with a single pour in the bottom. The fresh crack had a noticable difference to me, not as much as I expected, but the others were exactly the same according to my amateur pallette. I would also like to see SLB take on the task.
@bobbyoakes23785 ай бұрын
@@mattschmitt9924i do not care how long it has been opened larceny would taste like battery acid to me, it is the only brand i do not like thus far. I have tried more than once same thing. What i find very strange is that the c923 was drinkable at least but the 92 proof was pure rot gut on my palate. OGD 114 great, rare breed great, four roses great. Higher or lower proof does not matter larceny is just not for my palate. Nothing against it for others because each person is different, but not for me.

@bobbyoakes23785 ай бұрын
@@mattschmitt9924 i like wheated as well which is why larceny was a disappointment. It comes down to personal palate. I like most by makers, and others. You might also like ones that i do not. My journey is only about 2 months old. I have just been lucky enough to try a few. Don’t be put off by bottom shelf. Technically JTS brown and ogd are bottom shelf but i think they are fantastic

I live in Georgia and we are lucky enough that our local liquor store has it in stock. I bought some today and WoW. At just over 58% ABV, the first few sips will get your attention, but it certainly has a rich full flavor and feel in the mouth. The finish seems to go on forever.

That JD SBBP Rye is Da Bomb. Look for bottles over 130 proof. I just stopped in and "surprise" bought another one on the shelf for $64.99. Incredible pour. I'd have to say the most interesting whiskeys in my collection at the moment are releases from Good Times. Their barrel finishing is incredible and often produces unreal flavors while still letting the bourbon shine through. It's some pretty incredible juice.

Gotta nominate any Springbank Local Barley as one of the most interesting whiskies you can buy. Barley grown near the distillery, then malted, distilled, bottled all on site with Springbank’s old school methods. Cask strength, non-chill filtered, natural color, and delicious. Hard to find, expensive on secondary, but undoubtably one of the most interesting bottles you could own and drink.

I really like Scotch and especially Highland and Speyside. The GlenAllachie is a Speyside and when I looked up the 2009 bottle found there are multiple finishes. I am assuming the bottle you have is the Madeira finish since Madeira is more of a sweet wine.
