Yep, new bridges and track installed (excepted for Sleaford South and Sleaford North) two short lengths ready to put in. You are correct in saying its for the freight trains, also the line speed will be 75mph. I was hoping to film this stretch again tomorrow, but the weather is going to be shit !

They should have kept an avoiding line at Lincoln.

@topley92 After leaving Lincoln we follow the line until Sleaford N. Jc (Sleaford must be one of the few place where it retains all 4 boxes, the 'avoider' goes over the Boston line and then rejoins at Sleaford South, the line then goes onto Spalding and enters the ECML at Wennington Junc, I filmed the lot including through Sleaford Station in which I will put onto youtube at a later date.

Great video! I did this line like this on a special in 2002! Why was the n/bound line allowed to rot? Just don’t make any sense.

sleaford avoiding line? were does that go then?
@c.s-crossings Жыл бұрын
It's a short section of (now) twin-track line which passes beside Sleaford - normally trains have to enter the station via 2 level crossings and curve all the way back round to that junction you saw at the start of the video. Today, it is used by freight.

Looking on Google Earth, I don't think it would be a bad idea to build a station on the Sleaford avoider and name it "Sleaford Boston Road". The current station could then be referred to as "Sleaford Central or Town". This would be very convenient for the housing east of Sleaford town centre and wouldn't interfere with Nottingham - Skegness trains.

Hello Nigel, not a bad idea and leave the 'other' station in stitu
@nigelkthomas950111 жыл бұрын
The only down side would be passengers having to walk between the two stations to make connections, i.e. Lincoln/Spalding to Skegness. However, I wasn't going to suggest all trains use the current Sleaford avoider.

Nigel Keer I agree
@nigelkthomas950110 жыл бұрын
Fair enough I guess. Why was the down avoider taken out of use in the first place? Would've been more logical to have kept that and made it bi-directional using the crossovers at either end.

@@nigelkthomas9501That'd also help ease the traffic congestion at the two level crossings in the town centre.
