Sadly most mushing set ups don't run like this one. Obviously they didn't care if they won or not. Her stopping for her dog to pee made me want to cry, Ive never seen some one do that. Most mushers don't even stop for dogs to poop most times. Its racing afterall. I work in sled dog racing, I really think its best if it was made illegal. I hate to recommend you watch such a thing. But the films "sled dogs" is a more realistic look at the industry at large. Pushing dogs and breeding them to win races is horrible. Ive seen what it take to build an maintain a winning racing team and I have literal nightmares about it.

@@doggodoggo3000 yeah, because they are supposed taught to go while running. Usually mushers dont stop for them for that reason
@doggodoggo30002 жыл бұрын
@@eastereggersforlife5908 they aren't "taught" to go while running. you just don't stop. they either figure it out or they don't. At the winning level people will even sell a dog because its not good at "pooping on the fly," as they call it. people lose races over that sort of thing. half the time they are being ran till they have loose runny stools anyway so its just will fall out. the harnesses, lines, and the dogs will all be covered in dog crap by the end of a run. the loose poop will spray onto their tail and then be slung off their tail onto the dogs behind them.

Love the license plate on the truck! Why didn't I think of that? My dog truck was registered MUSHR-T in Connecticut. I ran purebred Siberians for twenty years. This video brings back such memories. I participated in Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club's Mannsville Quest at Winona State Forest in New York back in 2007. My team took home the Red Lantern in the four dog class. I was just happy we finished.
@georgewaters85929 ай бұрын
I wondered if there were any mushers in Connecticut, you have answered my question. That's a great license plate you had, by the way.
@thomaskowalcky45539 ай бұрын
@@georgewaters8592 Not so many now as far as I know. Our Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club races at one time would draw thirty or more entries in classes up to eight dogs. When I left the sport, entries generally topped out at the four dog level. Does the name Bill Hahn ring a bell with you? He ran teams of all white Huskies in CT, MA, and NH. Becki Tucker, originally from RI but moved to Maine for the longer races there, has reportedly come back to CT recently. I left the sport when my dogs aged out and my knees went bad. On my license plate: MUSHER was already taken. Don't know who owned it but I did see it at a local Target parking lot. I would have done MUSHER-T but at the time Connecticut had a six character limit on license tags.

@thomaskowalcky4553 no, I can't say it does, and I'll be the first to admit that at one week shy of age 59, I am having more than just what appears to be an interest in sled dogs, which oddly enough I only started becoming interested in after my dog Loki crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age 15.5, she was the complete opposite of a sled dog I suppose, a pitbull mix who weighed about 65 to 67 pounds. A co worker who knows the people who run Muddy Paws and Raft, along with Over The Hill Senior Sled Dog Rescue, both up in New Hampshire asked me if when the time was right would I consider adopting a retired sled dog, and that was back in August of last year, but now I find myself immersed in the sport of sled dog racing from a spectator standpoint, plus I want to get involved as a donor to those two places I just mentioned. I just looked up that Siberian Club you mention, it seems to be somewhat active but as you know we don't get snow like we used to anymore. Man, I know all about bad knees !! I romanticize the idea of someday being able to go up to New Hampshire and get to go on a nice easy sled dog ride, but not with my bad left knee. Hey thanks for the reply, from one outdoorsman to another.... cheers!!

The different shots of the race were amazing, seeing from a front camera and seeing that musher and dogs work together as a team and not everything runs perfect but making it through. You have to teach everything to do something useful. Men around here have never been trained. Lazy bone idle and hate eomen and children. That's truth. Huskies are dogs. They need too much attention. They need cold climates. They can be trained yo pull. Or rip you apart. All animals are easily trained yo good behaviour. These humans causing dogs to pull them need help. Dogs pulling some fat person around is cruel.
