The conscript of sleep terrified me as a child. “I’m just supposed to lay here and wait until my brain turns off?!” You also never remember the last thoughts you had or the feeling right before you fall asleep so it just feels like some kind of memory wipe

Did you know that sleep has two different stages? NREM and REM. REM stands for rapid eye movement, the n meaning non. REM sleep actually boarders being awake compared to NREM sleep. REM sleep is also where you dream AND it happens after usually 90 minutes after falling sleep. It’s the most restorative stage of sleep and you go in and out of it. That is why it’s recommended to sleep more to get more REM sleep!

I have a very heavy class load as a sophomore (3 aps and another advanced class my hs offers) as well as being in multiple activities that practice daily during the school year and I have never valued sleep so much my entire life. Now that it’s finally summer I still will be busy with marching band but I cannot wait to get sleep again.
