To be honest, I cannot pick a favorite song off this album. It's a freaking beautiful work of art. Ascensionism is ONE of my favorite songs that Sleep Token has ever done though. I just relate to it. That being said, I am just as enthusiastic as yourself about his songwriting as it takes me to a higher conscience and it's mesmerizing. I cannot wait to see them live.

Yeah it's definitely "code". It follows a theme through other lyrics on the song and the album as a whole where he's creating an analogy for becoming like a robot or computer. i.e. "Half algorithm, half deity" in the line before in this song, "Who encrypted your body language..." also on this song, "These days I'm a circuit board, integrated hardware you cannot afford" and "Silicon ballrooms, Subatomic interactions if it's all good. Gold rush, acid flux " from Aqua Regia (gold and acid flux being references to how circuit boards are manufactured) Then there's "Come now bite through these wires" (i.e. disconnecting) and "Just two days since the mainframe went down and I'm still messed up" from TMBTE. Hopefully I don't come across badly, there's no "official" lyrics released but I love the patterns Vessel weaves in his words and it makes it easier to figure out what he's saying in some parts.

Great stream, JVB! I'll post my thoughts on the song and hope it won't get too long to read. It's very, very deep. This song kind of crushed me emotionally because it resonates with loving someone when they don't love you back. Let me explain why: *Start, piano*: The lyrics are sad, and the person can't accept that someone is just taking what they want, using him/her. *Boppy part*: The person is entering a state of blissful ignorance, understanding that he/she can't get out of this toxic relationship just yet, and is trying to just experience and enjoy it while it lasts. *Explosion of pleasure*: Succeeding in enjoying what is actually bad for the person, ascension to pleasure, and a happier mental state. Sudden realization, heavy riff part: The person realizes that he has once again fallen into the same ignorance trap and is angry at him/herself, shouts "You're gonna watch me ascend". I WILL get over this. *End piano*: Determination to change, even spite, hence, flipping the lyrics around - you used me and now I'M going to use you, take what I want, then leave. *End of the song*: It strikes the person that they're not the same as the one he's trying to fight against, his perfect enemy as Vessel said. Heavy breathing, the sudden realization that it's not over yet and there's no escape. The ONLY way to escape from your own head is by what?... "You make me wish I could disappear!!!". At the end of the song, I experienced emotions that people usually experience within years... in just 7 minutes. My jaw was on the floor, I couldn't speak, and I had to go take a walk. I'm glad that you reacted in a different way and truly enjoyed it in a positive manner. Peace and love!

Cant go wrong with anything Sleep Token on any album but i feel that you'll enjoy Atlantic which is the opener of This Place Will Become Your Tomb, their previous album. Its such an emotional and beautiful song that is purely Sleep Token. Thanks for the content.

This song is actually insane, on so many levels. I've listened to it probably 300 times now. The intricacies of this song are what sets Sleep Token apart, from the rest. The production and the way they build the song up step by step, until it all just hits you like a fuckin brick wall. The guitar work is so fucking disgusting too.

Ok, I have a theory on this one: "Diamonds in the Trees" = Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) "Pentagrams in the Night Sky" = 5-HT1A and 5-HT2 receptors "You make me wish I could disappear" = psychedelic drug induced "ego death". Along with many other references throughout the song that could be psychedelic related (even the title). So in this song he recalls the time he did DMT with the girl that all their songs are about (the one that dumped him...ultimately that's what all 3 album are about) and it messed her up (even worse than she already was, and she was already a mess) so that's why in the next song she exhibits self harming behavior.
