Keep it up! I would love to see you do a DEEEEEEP dive. If possible go way back and save the rest of this album for the future, it will be life changing as it has been for many of us ST super fans.

I've been watching JWS for a while now and I love how his mind seems to work. I absolutely love his "Fear Inoculum" reaction content. He has a wonderful ability to balance the technical structures and emotionally charged aspects of music and it's just a great experience to go on the ride with him.

Really great in depth reaction. I really appreciate your active listening and technical discussion of details. Vessel is also a multi-instrumentalist, but primarily a piano player. He actually plays everything on their recordings except the drums, played by II (two). III and IV are strictly touring members, as are the female vocalists. Vessel performs all the vocal tracks on the recordings. If you like atmospheric/cinematic music, then this band will definitely scratch that itch. On another note, this song is from their third studio album, which is the final part of their trilogy of albums. They also have two EPs and several singles before that, that all share their style and vision. I hope you react to many more of their songs as i would very much enjoy hearing your thoughts on their other songs. Many reactors have gone back to the beginning and are progressing through their catalogue from the start. The fanbase comes out in droves to watch them discover each song one by one. Myself included. Haha. Anyways, essay over. Thanks for a very enjoyable reaction. Cheers.

Seen tons of rhythmic analysis of the beginning, and even the drummers don’t agree, but consensus is that it’s essentially a 4/4 grove but it doesn’t start on the 1, and 2 (the drummer) moves the 1 around a bit, which is what makes most people assume it’s some kind of odd meter or trickier than it actually is. You clued into the 16th note pulse on the hat…it’s really the only way to keep track of the whole thing. Really cool reaction…subbed!

I see now that you have already reviewed this song in your Patreon. The reaction was well worth the subscription. I love that just like your pneuma reaction, at one point you stated that the song and the band had left you speechless. Sleep Token, and I am one of many who have said this. Is the first band in a while that have rekindled my imagination, creativity, inspiration, and faith in music. The story, the growth, the odds against, and perseverance of the lead singer really have left me with a sense of awe. Others after hearing take me back to Eden get the urge to go back to the beginning and listen to their growth over time. I did this and was left with a feeling of “how did I go years while their eps, and first two albums existed and not know about them.” The joke is many of us were sleeping on sleep token. I am an aspiring musician and I know everything comes down to preference and experience and what we gravitate to. I guess sleep token does that for me and it’s been a life nourishing experience. The singer is able to simply articulate feelings many of us share but cannot put to pen, and has honed and crafted himself to be a very effective vessel in articulating those feelings thoughts fears and emotions back to us. I am confident if you choose to venture to learn a bit about his past, his story will leave you with the same inspiration.

I am an obsessive sleep token fan, and have watched countless reaction videos. This was by far my favorite. ST is special in that their music is very enjoyable on the surface level, but it’s when you go much deeper below the surface that the immense talent really comes through. Loved your reaction and explanation. I have no musical instrumental knowledge but yet enjoyed your take. I recently discovered ST and down the rabbit hole I have fallen. I’m probably going to expose my age here but I honestly haven’t had a band touch my soul like this since I was in High School when Led Zeppelin was on the scene and never expected it to happen again. Not to say that I haven’t enjoyed many others, I truly have. I thought it was a combination of getting through school and its struggles and just the overall times of that era. But ST has done so, the combination of the lyrical composition with the variety of musical styles brings back so many memories of being exposed to other genres. At my age I don’t do concerts anymore, no patience for crowds especially mosh pits, that’s for my son LOL. Wished I had discovered ST 2 years ago I would have loved to have experienced them live in a small venue/arena, for them I would have ventured out to my one last concert to experience those lyrics and that drum playing live. But sadly I stumbled upon them after they were done with their US tour. I never got to see Led Zeppelin either, was all geared up to do so waiting for announcements of their tour when John Bonham passed. I did get to see Jimmy Paige when he was with The Firm. Enjoyed it immensely but it still wasn't Zeppelin. I look forward to watching more ST from you! New subscriber! Thank you!

This song slaps! Did some research. The extended phrases with the drums that you mentioned is pretty spot on. The verses (and solo?) Start with a measure of 6/4 time, followed by a measure of 7/4, then finally a bar of 3/4, and repeat. This gives us a 16/4 altogether that makes it feel almost 4/4 but not really. If you like the band I highly suggest listening to the rest of their songs in order, either with this album or better yet from their first album. The lore, story line and musical themes carry through each album and the first song in the first album connects directly to the last song of the last album, its powerful stuff.

I loved your analysis and vibe man lol. A little further onto the heavy side, and a little further east, i think you should check out a multi talented man name BUSTER ODENHOLM. His bands Vildjarta, Humanity's Last Breath, Thrown, and some of the bands he's mixed/mastered/produced for like Allt, Catsclaw, many others
