Thank you man! Next to the 2000s Bell Brass, the Starphonic Copper (14x7) is one of my favorite snare drums. It's super versatile with a unique sound and dynamic range. A rule of thumb I use for a cracking snare drum sound is that the resonance head should be tighter than you might think - but still not too tight, or else the snare-strings will loose their rattling effect and the overall tone may sound too compressed for my taste. This will require some trial and error - other than that, I've not used any secret ,ethods. Before a studio gig I like to apply new heads 1-2 days prior to the recording to get them "tuned in".
