@@wildbill23c My take on it is, and we have done this with our daughter, is the process of scrapping anything from a car to a washing machine. We stayed in our truck for weighing watched Dad unload, watched the crane/claw pick up the metal and move it to a different pile, then dumped into the line for the different machines after. Our's also had metal sitting in cubes of mass metal from the crushers. Then we went back and weighed again. They allowed our daughter to go into the "office" part for Dad to get paid for the metal we dropped off. Then, like Josh did, we stopped at the gas station showing her how to use that $$ for gas and well...ya gotta do it... an ice cream cone. :) She was mesmerized by the machines and had a lot to ask and say about the whole process. Every kid should get to do that!

Josh I have to agree with you. Life is a struggle and balancing act between work ( i.e. money ) and finding time to enjoy things like car shows. I spent two out of three weekend days working but took the time Sunday to go Lime Rock, Ct. Raceway for an 800 car show and opportunity to show my 1991 Crown Victoria Wagon which drew many visitors and countless photos taken of it. Out of the 800 or so cars there only 8 wagons were in attendance. I saw a most beautiful 1961 Ford Country Squire as well as a very rare 1963 Chrysler Turbine car , one of only eight known to exist. I got to talk to the caretaker of the car and he told me it was owned by Chrysler Corp. as is six others. The only other is owned by Jay Leno. Take time out when ever you can because life goes by too fast. Take care and thanks for the videos.

Hi, I love you guys. I'm a retired firefighter and I haven't seen it personally but we did watch a safety video once with different incidents in real life videos of it actually happening. One was where a state patrol officer was standing right where wawa was standing as you are pulling the Durango on the trailer and the cable broke hitting him across his neck and head and without going into gory detail, killing him. So please don't stand behind the cable while under tension.

Speaking of lawnmowers I had a Cub Cadet since new in 2006 I finally had to retire it I made 2 rounds in the front yard and about that time pulleys went out one side of the mower and the belt went out the other side lol 😆. So now I have a old troybilt hopefully to finish this season hopefully I’ll get a new riding mower next year.

Where I live scrap is around 4 cents a pound, not worth the drive, nor the work of loading it all, or picking it up for that matter...people have junk they want hauled off, but its not worth it, with gas prices $4+ a gallon, and a 70 mile round trip to the scrap yard, it don't even cover the cost of fuel, let alone my time.

@ the mower... I've been doing the same thing with a Craftsman LT1000 that's about 35 years old (I'm guessing, bought it new but can't remember just when). I've replaced just about everything on the old girl more than once. She still runs good but the deck is so rotted out now, and parts are so hard to get, It's probably it's last summer. Gotta hit the envelope and spring for a new mowing rig soon.

You should of made a video Stripping it with the boy. Pulling off pieces like a reversed assembly line (Front Clip, Doors Hatch, Dash...). About 6 Sawzaw blades and a day would do the trick. Maybe even used the suspension to make a rally Fairmont (or even a Ford Durango Tribute off road hotrod mod). The Video could have been "Fun With Sawzaws".

Depending on how well your old Ford 2N runs and operates you could put a 3 point finishing mower on it and mow a large area. It wouldn't be much good for trim work but a Woods RM-59 or an RM-306 would mow a really nice 5 or 6 foot path of grass.

I just scrapped a 2005 Ford Taurus, well rather it went to a pick a part yard. They sent a wrecker for it, paid me $250. It was starting to have more and more electrical issues than I cared to mess with. Still ran and drove great for the most part, until the computer would start having fits from stuff shorting out LOL. Guess I should have called the scrap yard to see what they would have paid, the issue there is I would have had to rent a tow dolly, and drive over to them which is a 35 mile drive one way...so 70 miles round trip, about 2 hours of my time, $80 for the dolly rental, and probably $25 in gas at least....yep, the $250 was a better way to go and I didn't have to do anything LOL.
