Wife Bought The Cheapest 4wheeler She Could Find. Its Got Problems!

After literally years of my wife asking me to buy her a four wheeler I finally did it. My uncle Chris bought this one several years ago and after it started making a bad noise in the transmission he parked it. She finally talked me into asking him if he would sell it and we agreed on a price but now we have to go pick it up and see if we can fix all the problems it has. It is a 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 360 4x4

Yeah the beauty part about that thing is they make so many different accessories to add to it. I've used one of those for several years. The snow blade on the front salt sprayer in the back clean up around the shop and the driveway, but she's running pretty good. Imagine what she's going to do with a new belt. Really going to be a lot more powerful. Nice purchase! Happy for you guys. You've been looking for one for a while.

Those Kawasaki's are great machines. That one is in excellent condition. What I like to do to keep critters out of the belt and intake area is cover the inlet with mesh screen like you would use on a window screen. (Lowe's has it cheap) A hose clamp or self tapping screws to secure it.

Squeezy looks so different - much more grown up without glasses. I am cactus without mine on. It was great seeing both kids working on the bike with the only instruction from you to do xxx. They had to figure the rest out. A very good way to let them think for themselves. The joy on everyone's faces as it was being repaired and especially when everyone had a ride was priceless! And an 8/10 from Squeezy means it is a keeper! I guess she will be graduating from the little Pewee to the 4 wheeler now (we call the little motorcycles Peewee 50 or Peewee 80 depending on whether they are 50cc or 80cc bikes, do you call them that in America? It will be a much safer tow vehicle for the kids than driving another car to pull/push the cars you are working on with. Enjoy the 4 wheeler👍👍.

Great little machine and lots of fun. Do me one favour Josh... Think about fitting a roll bar to stop it going over backwards (like you see on tractors). There's been some nasty accidents involving kids in the UK, usually on farms, but the common serious injury is either a broken neck or a crushed chest. There have been deaths in the UK. A roll bar won't spoil anyone's fun and, they are fun, but it will keep the kids safer.

It sounds like the shift fork came loose inside of the transmission. on that fourwheeler y'all just bought truthfully due A bad bushing. Witch is worn out bushing sleeve in the case. JB-weld & permatex mixed together will make it stronger. Remember to scuff the area surface clean the area. Spray some belt dressing on that old belt.

I haven't owned a four wheeler for about 24 years, but that price sounded a little high. When I lived in Alaska I had a four wheeler and a "snow machine". That's what they call snow mobiles in Alaska...snow machines. FYI: America bought Alaska from Russia in the mid 1800's for 7.2 million dollars...or less than 2 cents an acre. From a national security standpoint...Alaska was priceless.

On those two jets, the big is the main jet the little one is the idle jet. Often the reason you need to use the choke which isn't really what it is, it's an enrichener, the idle circuit is at fault. The pilot jet, passages to the idle mix screw and to the venturi by the throttle plate are restricted or plugged. A choke restricts the airflow to enrichen the mix for cold starts. An enrichener is a valve that when you open it it flows more fuel to enrichen the mix. They both do the same thing but in different ways. You may be right on the o ring causing your idle issue. That o ring on the mix screw when damaged will cause an air leak into the idle circuit. This will cause a lean mix, using the choke would enrichen the mix so it would run. On the foam cover for the air filter, when it gets dirty wash it out with most anything you want, even Dawn dish soap , just rinse well and let dry them use a 50-50 mix of gas and motor oil. Wet the foam and squeeze most out then install. You have two so you can keep one ready to go. At oil change time just swap the clean for dirty, then prep the dirty for next time. I run foam air filters on several of my motorcycles and clean and oil my foam filters this way. On that machine most any 10w40 will work. It uses a dry clutch. When you pulled the cover you pointed at something, that something is part of the clutch system. It watched clutch fork that when you use the clutch it pushes on the throw out bearing. If it was a wet clutch that cover would have had oil in it.

I support local businesses as much as I can. I was kinda forced to. Being disabled now, I don't get around as well as I used to so going to local businesses is way less walking and less pain. Dollar general in our little town gets a ton of my business. Better than going to Walmart for me. And I go to small town grocery store. The size of about 3-4 isles of Meijer. And I tell you what, local business people are 400% more friendly and don't give u that fake friendly attitude. They are truly friendly. I love it! It took about a year to get used to it. It's basically quick JB-weld by doing that process. Although y'all had some already instead of having to make the DIY way. Sta bil will help y'all out with the fuel in it. Sta bil 360 gives yah 360 days of protection year round. Fuel treatment from corrosion & ethanol fuel issues to. If y'all start it up at least one A week.

I got a laugh from your " bump acceleration ". When I was a boy riding with my Mom there is a hill on Rte. 32 in Mansfield, Ct. that we referred to as the " We Bump " perfect for the same type of thrill you get on a roller coaster. Glad to see you all getting the same experience ! Also congratulations to Tosh on joining the ATV family ! I have a 2005 Suzuki King Quad 700 that I bought new in September of 2005 to replace my 2004 Honda Rancher 400 that was stolen on a Quad trip we were on in Western Pennsylvania also in 2005. But that is another story ! Make sure you insure it !
