I was raised a GM guy and I've warmed up to Mopars but man, that 4 door 427 Ford is my favorite of this group! Very cool!

That 4 door 427 Ford is bad ass. Love that 66 427 Impala SS too

I absolutely love sleeper muscle cars. They look luxurious and comfortable, but are insanely quick and fast when you have the right engine and other performance parts. Performance suspension, engine & transmission hidden from sight; comfy & luxurious for all to see. It can't get any better! For my sleepers, I'd love a 1961 Chevy Impala SS with a 502 big block under the hood and a 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS with a big block 427. Dog dish hubcaps, body color steel wheels, normal paint job, the perfect sleepers.

Should have included a '65 Chevy Biscayne with the "Drag Pack" option. Plain Jane Biscayne with steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps. 425 hp 396 and a 4 speed. I built my own '65 Biscayne with a 550 hp 454 and a Richmond 6 speed. A real "Drag Pack" optioned '65 Bicayne was going for $75K. I built mine for $20K.

I'm a Mopar guy but my favorite Chevy muscle cars were the low trim level full size Biscayne's/Bel Airs with the 409, 396, and 427. That 4 door 427 Ford Galaxie is definitely the coolest car on this episode though I think

This reminds me of a loaner car we had some 30 years ago at the shop I work at. It was a tire-frying, rotten 1974 Chevy Luguna with a 350 2 barrel engine. It would smoke the right rear wheel all the way through 2nd gear! We took it to the track and it ran 15.20 ets @85 mph! I cut the smog pipes off the manifolds with a torch once, and some of the slag got in a cylinder which caused the motor to have a constant knock, but it never quit... We eventually scraped the beast. there was holes in the floor, and no trunk left. What a sleeper it was!

Seen a 66 Chevy Biscayne 4 door once with an L72 427 4 speed. One of the coolest cars I've ever seen. I love that R-code 427 4 door Galaxie. I've heard Mopar produced three four door 426 hemi cars. Two 66 Dodge Coronets and a 67 Plymouth Belvedere

I grew up here in Southern California small beach town San Clemente. The 66 Impala 427 i knew a guy who had the most feard one around yup a 66 Impala SS w the most potent 427 available he added headers a performance cam had it blue printed and while most wanted there cars loud with glass packs or Corvair tubo mufflers, which i love and use to this day they have a performance sound but not too loud sound awsome and are free flowing, anyway this guy went for the quiet route it sounded almost bone stock 327 quiet lol but here's the crazy part he was able to order it w aluminum heads from the factory!!! Very very few 66 SS Impalas were ordered w the high performance aluminum headed 427. Its still around a friend of mine bought it back in the mid 80s its in storage its fired up to warm up the Rat and maybe around the block a few times a month.

The Ford 427 is a four door hardtop not a sedan. The sedan has a post between the doors.
@bigkahuna19507 жыл бұрын
While common understanding would agree with your definition, strictly speaking this Ford is a 4 door hardtop sedan. A sedan can have 2 or 4 doors, seat 4 or more people in front and rear seats, and, usually has a permanent top and a trunk in a 3 box design. I think in the US and Canada we have come to equate hardtops as separate from sedans probably because of advertising when the hardtop first became popular in mass produced cars of the late 40's and early 50's.
