I spent every break from school in Tucumcari with my grandparents! My grandfather was a truck driver for CF which is Consolidated Freight ways I think but then medically retired a few years later but stayed in Tucumcari they loved it there I did too as a kid but recently went through there it was so sad their house was dilapidated and Ugg so sad! BTW I am totally addicted to your channel James thanks for doing your videos!!!

Thank you for watching my videos! I’m actually in Tucumcari again this week I was driving around Main Street and went by the movie theater etc it was really really quiet and everything was closed

The school....I lived near it for 12 years. The sink as you first walked in is not original. Those two rooms were offices, later used as a polling place. The basketball hoop is definitely not original as I put that hoop/backboard up in 1970 or so. I never saw/ heard any spirits. If you really want to know when the fire happened, I can ask the owners.

What was it like living out there?
@tbucket9367 Жыл бұрын
@@WhatsUpWithJames Quiet and peaceful. The kids in Wheatland, and surrounding area, went to school at Grady; about 8 miles south. There were 11 people in Wheatland at one time. I think the house you were in, my old place, is the only one left standing. Most of the flooring in the gym was stolen years ago. My bus driver lived directly east of the house. Great people. My typing teacher and one classmate lived at the other end of town. I still call my typing teacher once a year or so to check on her health. She is a wonderful person. The folks who own the town are still my neighbors and still live in the area. They are really good people. FWIW, I buried a small treasure box in the front yard. Gotta find it one day.
@WhatsUpWithJames Жыл бұрын
@@tbucket9367 that is so cool! I’m super glad that I found you through this video and get the chance to interact with you. You can definitely find out more about places by talking to the people who lived in them. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

There were two barns and a windmill on the west side of the house. There was a janitor's home in back of the school. Buses had a semi-circular pathway so they could drop kids off in front. That pathway was lined with a short wall, maybe 2 feet tall, made of the same rock as the school. There were also stanchions, also made of the same rock, about 4' tall at each end of the driveway (on both sides) and in front of the front doors. Maybe 8 total. At one time there was a post office/store north of the school. Those folks moved out in (guessing) 74 or so.

Where did you get the maple syrup?
@WhatsUpWithJames2 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not just at Walmart in the syrup aisle. It was like $7 but I’m thinking about trying to make chicken and waffles while I’m camping one day and that syrup seems like it would be the perfect compliment to that.
