Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a beautiful place, located along Lower Michigan's Lake Michigan shoreline. We spent a couple of days exploring the area and really loved the Pierced Stocking Scenic Drive, and also the Grand Haven Historical Town. Both spots we'd highly recommend to see for yourself if you visit the park.

Yay! I’m so glad you had a wonderful day at Sleeping Bear! I read the Legend of Sleeping Bear Dunes ever year to my class and have to fight back tears every time.

Don’t bother yourselves with what people say. People will talk no matter what so let them talk but answering them only lends attention to what they say. Enjoy yourself and have a great time in Michigan. I’ve been a resident of Michigan for a year albeit that it was only a week or two at a time over 40 years. Love all of the clear clean water with beautiful trees all around. Spent most of my time around the Higgins Lake area. I’m so jealous. Have fun and be safe.

Love it. We used to camp all around up there when I was a kid. Hope you head up to Traverse City and definitely the UP. Hit the Ambassador in Houghton for a fishbowl and tostada pizza... Thanks for taking me home!

Glad to see you enjoying Michigan's west coast. I've been hoping you'd make it up here. Dont know if you mentioned it but Dake is in Grand Haven. Charlevoix/Petoskey are our summer favorites. Come back in the summer!

You won't find me complaining there Adam and Abby...this is my time of the year. I lived in the U.P. for 6 years, up there you have 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad sledding. I'm of the belief that I can put more clothing on to get warm, but there is a limit to what clothing I can remove to get cool. Fall in Michigan is an amazing place to be, the U.P. is the place to be for color change, simply amazing. Glad you're having a good time in my home state.

Yeah, It's those folks complaining loudest about your tolerance to cold that will also whine the loudest when they are in 99 degrees with 100% humidity! Enjoy the cool guys!! I long for crisp cold air!!

I'm a Florida resident now. but grew up in Michigan and spent my summers with my family in Traverse City camping. I am loving your trip through Michigan, makes me miss home so much. Abby, you said you love rocks, you should look for petoskey stones while on the beach.... They are fun to find and more fun to polish... . looking forward to more of your trip...

I am so glad you get to travel. That was a great double take on the covered bridge. Your videos are so close to being there in person, the colors, the views and more. Thank you for taking time to share.

Greg from northern Michigan. Michigan and Florida are both five season states ... Up North, its spring, summer, fall, winter, and still winter. Down South, it spring, summer, still summer, fall, winter. Thanks for including us in your travel adventure. Yup, beanie caps and flip flops do go together 😶

Hey Abom, I just got back from the Gerstner owners club day in Dayton. It was so cool, you guys would have loved it!! We all left the factory and went across the river to a super nice brewery in an old foundry building that had brewed a special Gerstner beer. That was great too. Joe from Cleveland.

If you want to see some cool rocks, you need to get to the Lake Superior shore. There are so many cool colors and if you go out at night with a UV light you might find a Yooperlite.

It's too bad the colors are way late this year as the oak, maple, birch trees offer reds , yellows, orange amidst the green of the white pine is normally fantastic. However, planning a color tour is just like planning a trip with no rain. You made the right choice by not going down to the water when on the top of the dune. The distance is deceiving. It's like 300-600 yards and you need to pack a lunch to get back up...... :) Thank you for de-trashing our great state. One of our mottos is "Come to Michigan.. Leave nothing but footprints" Someone didn't get the memo..... Not sure where you're headed next. You could camp here from May till November and still not hit all the cool places. I'm going on 67 and still haven't finished the list. Stay safe - Watch out for those pesky deer that jump out in the roadway. You do not want to be cooking venison on your next Abom Adventures.......

Great video. Natures scenery is far better to view than man's offensive structures. It is a humbling experience to be near the great lakes. Glad to see you "touch" the lake. Water is the most precious resource on our planet. Thanx for the tour.😃

Glad to see you and Abby are injoying your trip north. The area is breath taking and have spent 40 years visiting the area with my wife and daughters. But you need to see the shores of Lake Superior, the Munising picture rocks, theres a state camping ground there. Tahquamenon Falls, White Fish Point were the Edmunds Fitzgerald went down Nov 10 1975. And the grand finale would be the Sault Ste Marie locks were you can see up close 1000ft lake freighters go throught the locks system. Its been a blast watching you and Abby on both channels from are small hobby shop here in the other Sault Sre Marie. in Canada. And yes Michigan is also are back yard and its been great to final travel there sense the travel restrictions have been lifted. So if your a risk taker just drive over the bridge and your in Canada. Be glad to give you a shop your. Safe travels. To you and Abby.

Hey! @4:58 I noticed you have a ROVE R2-4K dashcam. I have one too and I'm really glad I picked it (after some head scratching). I watch a lot of dashcam videos and it's amazing how many people use them. Takes WAY better video than my ancient GoPro Hero 3 Black! The way people are driving these days you have to have one! I always run it and every time I leave the house I get MANY near misses! I hope I never get hit (knock on wood) but there's a LOT of insurance fraud going on lately.

Do you know if there’s a spot where I could drive to and barbecue and get a great view of the lake? Where I could just park my car , unload cooler and grill , grill some kabobs and enjoy the view

Look up Empire Beach, it’s a city park for Empire. It’s right on the lake and they have lots of picnic/bbq areas to enjoy. It’s not in Sleeping Bear Dunes but it’s still very nice and enjoyable. I don’t know of any spots in sleeping near where you can drive right up to the beach and bbq but certainly stop at the visitors center and ask the rangers.
